Introduction

For this particular assignment, I have chosen a topic on the use of food waste to produce bioenergy. The subject of the proposal was inspired by the fact that our school provides a sizable amount of kilos in terms of food waste per week, of which the most significant proportion is landfilled. Besides, I believe that the use of microbes can answer to the shortage of existing raw materials because of their very unique traits and properties.

With the understanding that, when bacteria microbes when they are fermented, attain an excellent tensile strength (Girotto 2017). Ideally, as cellulose forms a distant crystalline structure, those fibers make a weak layer, and thus the conducting area is wide; thus, the fibers attach themselves along with each other. Therefore, with the basic understanding of what microbes can do and the fact that waste from our school is a challenge, then making bioenergy will be the solution.

Regarding the knowledge about the proposed topic, waste management is always passionate about it. Food waste brings about one of the most significant opportunities to generate renewable fuels, and it is one of the less used of all known organic waste materials (Schempp 2251). Therefore, diverting food remains from landfills can significantly lead to the production of sizable quantities of renewable energy. In the same breath, the latter will also address the substantial waste diversion objective of the state. This topic of study I may say it's not an old idea I have been incubating but rather an interest which has come up in me a few months ago. Having read and interacted with reading materials on microbial and how factories are leveraging on them to make a considerable turn-over, my consciousness was then awakened. Besides, I have been passionate about waste management for quite some time, and thus the interest pushed me into this kind of research. Consequently, I believe that by the time I am done with the investigation, I will be able to implement the project and achieve the twin benefit of bioenergy production and solid waste management in our school.

Writing my paper in a meaningful way, I will employ several strategies. First, as a matter of principle, I will follow the standard and scholarly guidelines for a research proposal to the latter from the cover page to work cited. Besides, I will also make the study an exciting write-up without much jargon and, where possible, have attached an appendix on more explanations. To my reader, the topic of choice will be of great interest. The reasons are that; every reader will be interested to understand how just food waste will turn out to be resourceful and make biofuel. Secondly, for a ready, it is easy to relate with, especially from a waste management perspective in school set-up.

Preliminary Research

The project starts as a pilot study and probably the funds obtained from the microbiology department and externally from renewable energy initiatives across the state. According to a UNFAO report, it is clear that global food waste is rated as the third biggest emitter of greenhouse gases from landfills across the world (Lijo, Lucia, 1130). It is about 2.5% of such waste that is being recycled currently in the US with the primary technology being composting, which doesn't give any relief to landfills. The necessary aerobic digestion process will form the contextual knowledge of the whole approach.

Research Question

What is the role of microbial in bioenergy production?
