The primary challenges faced by the transgender people include severe discrimination, stigma, and getting subjected to systematic inequality. Political aspirants across the United States are capitalizing on such transgender challenges to entice voters with the promise of delivering equal rights.

According to Haider-Markel, Donald et al. 2020 political hopefuls are talking transgender rights in the campaigns, which is an indication of a political shift on gender rights. Transgender votes alone cannot make a significant impact on the results of the forthcoming elections. However, addressing issues on transgender rights represents a proxy on how different political candidates are prioritizing and perceiving equality. Potential political candidates vying in the forthcoming elections are not taking the transgender communities for granted as they are already accepting invitations to talk and discuss their experiences and potential implementable policies regarding transgender communities. The acknowledgement of transgender communities by political leaders indicates that LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning) groups are getting accepted in the community.

Previous, sexual orientations of either being entirely male or female have overshadowed gender identity, therefore, resulting in an increased demand for more expansive LGBT rights. However, current pre-election talks get characterized by candidates that are fluent in inclusion; they are advocating for more implementation of different non-discriminatory laws. Leaders are keen not to disregard issues affecting the transgender societies (Haider-Markel, Donald, et al.). Nonetheless, they are ready to build an all-inclusive government with transgender individuals involved in policy formulations. Candidates have also blamed the previous and reigning governments for their diminished supports of the transgender groups. The Trump administration has been blamed as having thrived in propagating hatred; thus, the many new political aspirants promise change towards the love and inclusion of transgender communities. To the broader nation, political candidates are wooing voters by trying to convince them that they are concerned about the rights of every American (Haider-Markel, Donald, et al.).

The strategic focus has been laid on offering health cover for all, including an introduction of abortion rights and cover for transgender men that might get pregnant since they are born with the female reproductive system. Ironically, politicians are also using transgender issues to attack their rival political groups with insensitive issues they might have said regarding transgender communities (Jones and Paul 72). Political aspirants are wooing voters by promising to offer legal protections in the aversion of harassments and stigma associated with being transgender (Jones and Paul 72).

Therefore, it is evident that a social justice approach, such as those affecting the transgender communities, are being deployed to rally probable voters across the political world. Transgender issues have been disregarded in the past, although incoming political leaders are promising to initiate change. Some of the promised changes include elimination discriminations, stigmatization, and introduction of legal protection for all for transgender groups.
