Inflicting pain is a concept that is based on conflicts that take place all over the world. The act of torture began in the ancient times when the Greeks and Romans forced the prisoners to play roles in various forms of torture. Since then, many nations around the world also participated in this act by using tar, stoning, waterboarding, and tar to torture others either to gain specific information or a way of killing the individual slowly (Austin, 2016 p. 51). In whichever way this may be seen, the essay will argue that torture never has and will never be justified either through the past, present or the future.

Torture is Always Useless

Most people claim that pain infliction can be justified as making other people safe. It is also believed that when someone is tortured, they will reveal the hidden information that could save people's lives, but this is not the case (Sveaass, 2017 P. 88). This because torture is used by traitors and most of the time they are never successful in getting the information they required. The victims that are tortured in this case happen to divulge because most of them are trained not to say anything no matter how painful the torture will last. Therefore, there is no need for abusing someone because despite the level of sadism, there is little or no information gained.

Another problem that is generated by torture is the results. Many nations allow torture because of the crimes committed. For instance, in the U.S, only prisoners of war and terrorists are tortured, but yet they were accused with little or no evidence. In some countries crimes that do not involve around terrorism still apply torture since it's a culture (Sveaass, 2017 P. 103). Who therefore believes that torture should be implemented in any form of justice? This is where the debate begins from. Thus, the more people defend torture the more it will be allowed to be used. Nevertheless, any criminal situation is meant to assist people to reform but not to torture them.

The Value of Human Life

Torture is an act that is not only practiced in prisons but also supported by many governments. Let's face it there are many occurrences of vigilante justice where citizens engage to cause vengeance to an individual that has done something wrong. In most cases, these people end up being tortured with no evidence, but yet when they attempt to justify torture, more doors of senseless pain occurs.

The most vital thing in this situation is not the debate about torture, but the life of people. The value of human well-being, human life is empowered in the U.S constitution under the rights of liberty, life and the pursuit of happiness (Mocreirebrean, 2017). The right to life and the pursuit of happiness, in this case, is vital and this is something that has always been embraced. However, when torture comes into the picture, the lives of people are a strip, and the pursuit of happiness and the right to liberty taken away from them. But since it is believed that they did something wrong, they are seen to be less human.

Conclusion

When we view the concept of torture, it is vital to note that this idea changed over time. Initially, less evidence was needed to torture someone, but over the years, the reasons have been narrowed to showing people the right way. However, this concept has not yet eliminated, and it can be vital if it's put under plans. Therefore, torture should not be allowed in any country because even though there are many stories behind it, there is no justice in anguish.
