Inis Nua Theatre is a company which is responsible for the production of the play, "The monster in the hall." The previously mentioned play is a highly anticipated play, and it has a majority of audience across Europe due to the themes it displays, that are relevant to modern day people. To ensure the success of the play, Inis Nua, uses some strategies to reach the public, create interest in them and make them watch the play in large numbers. These strategies for public outreach by the company are the main focal point that this paper aims to address.
Public outreach can be defined to be a state of reciprocity between an event and its intended audience (Williams, 2018). What sets Inis Nua different from other theatrical companies is the relationship it has developed with its audience. First of all, the mission statement of the company is the production of provocative contemporary plays that are aimed at reflecting the cultures of the countries the plays are established (Inis Nua Theatre, 2018). As mentioned earlier, Inus Nua is responsible for the play "The Monster in the Hall." The theatre promotes the show in some ways which have made the show very popular in the contemporary continent of Europe. For instance, Inus Nua has partnered with the American Free Library in the production of the play which is a way of raising awareness on the show.
Many people in America read from the Free Online library and posting ads on such online platforms could help increase awareness of the show (Inis Nua, 2017). The fans of the show would also be interested in the site after the realization of its support to the production of the play, and hence both the production partners increase visibility on each other via production of the play. In raising the awareness of the play and enabling a relationship between the company and the audience, several social media platforms are used. Some of the platforms applied by this theatrical company include; Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The company uses these social media platforms to interact with its audience to get the general idea of what they would like to see in the play, or instead get their feedback regarding the play. This helps in establishing a strong relationship between the audience and the play which is the main aim of public outreach.
To ensure that the release dates and basic information about the play are known to the public, Inus Nua uses the Newspaper and Press Association of New England where its posts its adverts (NENPA, 2017). The publication is responsible for making the public aware of the show proceedings and when it would be ready for viewing. In the site of the theatrical company, promo videos are formed which are for stimulating interests in the audience. For instance, the theatre has renewed the play for the next year, and the promo video in their official site is supposed to tease and increase interest in the audience.
Lastly, different cinema audiences have different tastes when it comes to selecting the play which they want to view. Every play is designed to capture the attention of diverse audiences ranging from the young to the old, especially those located from the suburbs. I think that the play caters for both the young and the old audience due to the means of marketing used in advertising and promoting the play. Social media platforms are used in advertising and supporting the play mainly. Young people are mostly found on these sites and hence creating interest and awareness in them. However, for the old, newspapers are used, and the free online library, as the old people tend to seek and acquire more knowledge on what is currently going, for instance. As a result, the company can keep in touch with its young and old audiences. The themes of love and family are also relevant to both the categories and hence the theatre can be described to cater for the young and the old through the play "The Monster in the Hall."
