Introduction

The kidney is one of the most important organs in the human body. One of its key role in the body is maintaining homeostasis by regulating the concentration and volume of body fluid (Crowley & Coffman, 2342). It also plays a fundamental responsibility in removing waste products from metabolism including Creatinine. Urea, uric acid through urine secretion. Along with it, the urine may also contain excess potassium, sodium, chloride ions as well as sulphates and phenol waste.

How the Kidney Maintains Homeostasis

One of the key things the kidney does to control homeostasis is through the release of hormones. For instance, Renin which is secreted and works to maintain a healthy blood pressure. This kidney too contains certain cells referred to as Juxtaglomerular cells. These type of cells work to detect any abnormalities in blood pressure levels. Any detection by these cells of any imbalance, Renin is released which works by causing a chain of reacting to occur resulting in an increase in blood pressure (Brown, 367). The kidney maintains acid-base imbalance by bicarbonates reabsorption from urine as well as excreting hydrogen ions into the urine.

Hypertension

This is one of the conditions caused by chloric kidney disease. Hypertension also referred to as High blood pressure can lead to severe complications as well as increase the rate of heart disease, stroke and even death. It is a condition where blood pressure is higher than 130/80 millimetres of mercury (Hansson et al, 1758). Being a global health concern persons suffering from the condition must seek medical attention with immediate effect.

The kidney is very crucial in maintaining a good and appropriate Imbalance of body fluids by regulating the flow of fluids in and out of the human body (Brown, 335). The kidney is a complex organ and normally occur in pairs in the lower abdomen. They produce urine which is made up of waste products, excess water as well and excess mineral ions from the body. It works in the fact that if the intake exceeds excretion, the amount of that substance in the body will increase and if the intake is les that the excretion the amount of that substance will decrease (Crowley & Coffman, 2356). Other that removing excess of the things mentioned earlier, the kidney too play a fundamental role in holding on to useful substances such as glucose and proteins so that none is lost from the body .It does this by ensuring it filters the plasma and does this by removing substances from the glomerular filtrate at vibrant rates depending with the needs of the body. Moreover, all the electrolytes in the body are maintained in large part by the kidney.
