A virtuous person is the one who practices virtue ethics both in character and moral elements of life. Individually, I perceive characters that define a virtuous individual as generosity, honesty, love, and confidence. I have also identified four essential elements that define an ideal person; these include practical wisdom, leading by example, possession of a high level of commitment, and having the right motives. In respect to this, the individual that I know as an ideal virtuous person is my father. As seen in the discussion of this essay I have seen particular virtuous characters as well as the essential elements that define an ideal virtuous in my father; as a result, he is an ideal person.

There are characters in my father make him an ideal virtuous person; first, he is generous. He has the willingness to spend resources on helping others. In many cases, my father has willingly used his resources to help other people (Dunn, 2015). He has supported relatives financially, for instance, he helped one of our uncles to start a business. As a result, generosity contributes to my father having the character of an ideal virtuous person.

The other virtuous character that my father has is honesty which means being truthful and fair. He has shown fairness and truthful by keeping his word. Through striving to accomplish was he promised or said defines him as an honest person (Zubets, 2016). For instance, when he promises to take us out on vacation, he eventually accomplishes it. The behavior of showing fairness and truth makes my father as an ideal virtuous individual.

As an ideal virtuous individual, my father has the character of love which refers to having a feeling of constant and strong affection for another person. He has shown love right away from the family level (Dunn, 2015). In most cases, he has shown a strong affection to us by taking good care of us, for instance, he took us to best schools. Since love and virtue ethics are inseparable, my father is an ideal virtuous person.

Apart from generosity, honesty, and love, my father also has the character of confidence. The trait of confidence which refers to possession of a strong sense of assurance through having faith both in ourselves and in life are in my father. Through confidence, he has shown trust of having the strength to face every challenge of life (Zubets, 2016). For example, when he lost his job some years back, my father was confident to cope with the financial constraints that we were facing as a family. Confidence has contributed for him to live as a virtuous individual.

Other than the character, there some features about my father that makes me think that he is an ideal person. First, he leads by example in his endeavors in life. He likes correctly doing the right thing to be an example to others (Dunn, 2015). For instance, he has taught us to be hardworking people in life by putting efforts in his endeavors as an individual. The aspect of leading by example makes him an ideal individual.

Having the right motive in life is another feature about my father that makes me think that he is an ideal person. His intention of acting or speaking about an issue or someone usually happens with the right motive in my father (Zubets, 2016). He is a man of the right motive as he hates acting with the intent of causing harm to others. As a result, having the element of the right motivation gives him the credit of being an ideal being.

Commitment is also an element about my father that has made me identify him as an ideal individual. The commitment which refers to a high level of dedication in accomplishing an activity or a cause is one of the life aspects that my father esteems (Dunn, 2015). He dedicates his time, resources, and energy in accomplishing a purpose. Through commitment, my father has been able to achieve in his endeavors as an ideal individual greatly.

Other than leading by example, having the right motive, and commitment, the other element about my father that makes him an ideal person is the wisdom. He expresses wisdom by the correct use of knowledge, experience, and good judgment when he is accomplishing a task as well as speaking. By the use of understanding, he has been able to make the correct decisions because of his highest level of soundness through the appropriate application of knowledge, experience, as well as good judgment.

Conclusively, I perceive that a virtuous individual must possess specific characters that include generosity, honesty, love, and confidence. In addition to these traits, an ideal virtuous person must esteem particular moral elements that comprise of practical wisdom, leading by example, a high level of commitment, and having the right motives. From the discussion above, it is evident that my father has what it takes to be an ideal virtuous person. Based on the characters, he is generous, honest, loving, and confident. Concerning the essential moral elements of life, my father esteems practical wisdom, commitment, leading by example, and right motive. Therefore, the possession of morally upright characters as well as valuing ethical elements of life makes my father an ideal person.
