Introduction
The current political climate in Texas will impact the chances of winning of the senatorial election. The relationship between the local government and the people is combined to form both stability as well as the different instants of tension that may result in dramatic changes (Scott 1). To be more specific, the political climate of the local government always differ depending on the opinion of people about different aspects such as the rights and responsibility of people, the obligations to the government and then the limit that it has to the governmental authority. The demographics also play a significant role when it comes to votes due to the distribution of voters that determines a lot in election winning. In Texas, the Hispanics take the most significant part of the population nationwide, where 10.5 million Hispanics are from Texas which is equal to 39% of the Texas population (Brownstein 1).
From the records, there are 4.8 million Hispanics who are the eligible voters which is equal to 28% of the Texas legal voters. One-third which is 32% of the Hispanic voters is between the age of 18 and 29, and this is similar to the Latinos who are legitimate voters within the age range. Among Hispanics legible voters, 16% have the American citizenship, which is less than 25% of the Hispanic legal voters. However, from the statistics it has been proved that Republicans occupy a significant percentage as per the following graph;
It is evident that the Republicans occupy a significant percentage than the Democrats in Texas. However, the large percentage of the Republicans is on the Northern Texas in Fort Worth and Dallas, while the Republicans are on the Southern part which includes Houston, San Antonio, and Austin (Samuels 4). Therefore, for Ted Cruz to win the elections, appropriate strategies have to be implemented focusing on the needs of people, the issues facing them as well as area that have high numbers of the Republican voters.
The campaign
Being a Republican candidate, there are significant chances that Ted Cruz will win the Senate seat. The shift in the number of Republicans compared to the Democrats is an advantage to the candidate since there are high chances of winning. The campaigns should majorly focus on the Southern due to the high number of Democratic supporters. The campaign in these parts is to ensure that the sure there is no shift in support and that the candidate maintains the Republican support.
Important issues among the Texans
Unemployment and the national debt leads in the list of the Texans residents. Based on the polls, Texans are also concerned by the rate of political corruption and the healthcare services. During the campaign, it is essential for the candidate to highlight the issues in the interest of the Texans. Issues are within his reach, the candidate will also propose the policies that may work, while those that are not within his reach the candidate will demonstrate how he will handle the issues. As a Republican candidate should also ensure that the issues are openly discussed with possible proposed during the campaign so that they can reduce any form of conflicts in the process.
Interest Group
African Federal Labour Congress is one of the interest groups that are effective in addressing the issues, especially on the employment issues. This is the interest group that supports and enhances the employment issues, and therefore there are high chances that it will support the candidate decisions. The role of the interest group is also to ensure that the candidate mentions the critical challenges facing the Texans.
Campaign Funding
Political funding is crucial for any candidate to be able to complete the campaign goals and policies effectively. For Ted Cruz, the fact that he will not accept the PAC financial support does not mean that the candidate may fail. The political party funding is one of the best sources that Ted Cruz will access the money. Ted Cruz is a Republican candidate implies that he will get financial funding from the Republican party. The funds will be sourced from the member's contributions, the organizations with similar opinions and grants. It means that Ted Cruz will not spend his money during the campaign which is essential regarding financial management.
The success of Ted Cruz
One crucial element is that Ted Cruz should concentrate on the political distribution of Texas and also focus on the needs of people. During the campaign, the candidate must ensure that he provides strong policies that are easy to adopted and solve the issues facing the Texans. At the same time, Cruz must also ensure that the proposal is convincing to the audience and that they benefit all the parties. The fact that Texans shifted in the recent elections with the Democrats winning implies that Ted Cruz has an advantage over the Democrat candidate if the best strategies will be implemented.
