Researchers are required to present their findings in a manner that the reader can clearly understand and visualize the findings of a particular research phenomenon. Most often statistical analysis involves using figures and tables, which is relatively difficult to understand. However, when this data is put in word form, not only does it become easy to understand but it also helps the reader critically analyze and scrutinize the finds more accurately. Violent Crime Total
The total number of violent criminal acts committed in the 29-years period totaled to 1542. On average, the number of violet crimes recorded every year is 51.5. There is a high likelihood that this number could be higher because the higher recorded cases were in 2002, recording 85 crimes. The violent trajectory over the 29-year period as been shifting immensely with levels of violent crime escalating to optimum in 2000 to 2002, which recorded a mean of 81.3 crimes. In 1993, the county recorded the lowest number of violent crimes at only eighteen. It was also noted that the rate of crimes have been escalating at a steady growth reaching their optimum in 2002 and relative decline in the following years with a mode of 25. The range in the reported number of violent crimes in a stretch of the 29-years was 67 with the lowest and highest values recorded at 18 and 85 respectively.
Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter
Murder and non-negligent Manslaughter crimes in the country are relatively low compared to other counties. The total number of crimes reordered over the 29-year period were 59. At least two crimes are recorded every year. In 2011 however, the county recorded the highest number of Murder and non-negligent Manslaughter crimes totaling to six in that single year. In addition, 2006 and 2007 also recorded relatively higher numbers with five in both years. In 1986, 1995, and 2002 the county recorded no such criminal offence. On average the county records at least two crimes and the difference between the highest number to recorded and the lowest was six.
Legacy Rape/1
The total number of Legacy rape/1 crimes recorded over the 29-year period totaled to 198 cases. There has been a relative number of this type of crimes of the years with 2003 and 2007 recording the highest numbers. Total number of cases reported in the two years was 12 case while in 1995 only one case was recorded. On average, every year at least two cases are reported. Consequently, in 2013 and 2014, no cases were recorded.
Legacy Rape/2
This type of crime is relatively new to the county. According to the data, no such crime has been recorded until 2013 and 2014. However, it is likely that this outcome could largely have resulted from the amendment of the laws regarding raping and sexual assaults. It is quite shocking that in the two years, 23 cases were recorded with an average of 11.5 cases reported every year. Year 2014 recorded the highest rates with 14 crimes.
Robbery
Over 99.8 percent of the most crimes reported worldwide involve robbery. In Virginia, the total number of robbery case that have been recorded of the last three decades total to 499 cases. Compared to other counties, this number is relatively small an indication that the county is quite safe from theft. Surprisingly, on 1993, the county recorded no case of robbery. Nevertheless, there has been a steady increase in the number of robbery cases recorded every year with 2001 recording 41 cases. On average, about 15 criminal cases involving robbery are recorded every year.
Aggravated Assault
IN the last three decades, the county has recorded a total of 763 cases involving aggregated assault. At least 25 cases are recorded every year since 1985. 2014, 2002, and 1991 recorded the highest number of aggravated assault crimes totaling to 172 and all years recording 44 cases each. The lowest number was recorded in 1993 with only 11 cases recorded. The range in the number of crimes committed with the three decades was 33, and indication that the change in this crime levels vary greatly.
Property Crime Total
Property crimes are the most common and have recorded a total of 12,465 cases in the last 29 years. On average, at least 431 cases are recorded every year. The highest number of property relates cases recorded was 609 cases recorded in 2000. Consequently, in 1991 and 1993, the county recorded the lowest number of property crimes, with a record of 161 cases. The range of change is relatively even compared to the mean and mode of change with is 448. The most number of cases reported were 489, which has been recorded twice.
Burglary
Forcible breakings continue to raise. According to the Accomack County Sheriff Office, Virginia crime report, burglary has been relatively high over the three decades. The total number of burglary crimes committed over the last three decades added to 3,944 crimes. On average, every year 129.5 cases are recorded. In 1986, the county recorded the highest number of burglary crimes equating to 267 case while in 1991 only 52 cases were recorded.
Larceny-Theft
Like burglary, larceny-theft has been relatively high in Virginia. In the last three decades, a total of 7518 cases relating to larceny theft have been recorded. On average, close to 273 cases are recorded every year. Its only in 1991 and 1993 the county recorded less than hundred cases in a single year. In 1991 for instance, the total number was 96 cases while in 1993 only 92 cases were recorded. More so, in 2011, the county recorded the highest number of larceny-theft cases totaling to 391.
Motor Vehicle Theft
Increase in motor vehicle theft is strongly contributed by the advancements in technology and also the increasing number in motors produced. Total crimes recorded over the 29-year period were 1003, with an average of 32 crimes cases every year. In 1985 on three cases were recorded and since then the number has continued to increase 72 cases in 1999.
