How Was The "Staging" You "Produced" In Your Head Compared To The Director's Interpretation In The Filmed Version?

The staging I produced in my heads is similar to the director's interpretation in the filmed version. The director used the stocking that Willy had bought for his wife to show us that Willy did not make the right decisions. He purchased expensive things for his wife while he could not afford to support his family or even buy his wife any beautiful things. It was the same scenario I created in my head. The director portrays the Willy family as an unfortunate family. He shows Linda the wife trying to convince her sons to respect their dad, and he shows the conflict between biff and Willy.

The characters he chose to act the part were perfect and good at their work. They brought out the emotions and the battles of the story. In my mind, I also thought of emphasizing auditioning for characters that could bring out the story. The director also included specific costumes and props to create the real scenario on stage. The clothing and the accessories are essential in showing the timing of the play, the location, and the culture of the people. For instance, Linda, the wife, wore very decent old fashions clothed while the woman that Willy had an affair with dressed in a very classy way. I would have also used clothing to show how submissive the wife was .while directing the play, and the director insisted that all participants should consider the tone of their voice and the facial expressions. I would have done the same thing because I believe that non-verbal cues also help the viewer understand the emotion.

I did not see the staging and the production of the play differently. The director brings out the play the same way I would start from dressing emotions and emphasizing facial expressions.

Were The Director's Choices Consistent With Yours?

The director's choices are consisted of mine. The director hired to make up artists to apply makeup on the cast members. In a play, one needs to look at their part. Again the director chose to use all parts of the play. Staging a play that looks precisely like the original play stops people from modifying the play. The looks understand precisely what the author wanted to pass across. If the one changing the play leaves out parts of it, it will be a disadvantage to the viewers who have never read the written version. They will end up confused

Differences

The staged play sounded and felt the same as what expects after reading the written version. The director included all the parts of the written play into the staged play that enables the viewer to follow the storyline. The ideas and themes were not altered. However, some of the actors exaggerated some scenes and made it look worse than it was while performing. For instance, when the biff and his family disagreed about the change in his career, the actor biff was too dramatic. I did not imagine the play any differently. I appreciate the fact that the director brought out what I could visualize in my mind. The only part I thought that the director could do better was showing the relationship between Willy and the affair and how guilty Willy felt about the whole thing. They show Willy going to the woman's house a lot of times, but they do don't show his regrets. The director only mentioned it once, which I do not think is enough. Also, the director found it hard to bring flashbacks. The viewer can confuse the flashbacks with real-life and end up misusing the play. The director generally covered everything I would have included if I was the one directing the play.
