Compulsory voting is a result of the that needs desirable citizens of a certain country to participate in elections by registering and voting for their leaders and if they fail to do so penalties may be applied on them. According to Albert Guy, he says that pass a voter-competency test before any elections is a superb way to ensure that voters know about vital political issues. This is because people have been voting constantly about political issues they do not know much about. There are deceptive politicians who deceive the citizens so that they can vote for them and the citizens later suffer the consequences because they have no much awareness about politics. Albert Guy says that we need to make sure that people know what they are really voting for and what consequences will happen after the vote. When citizens are pass through the voter-competency test they are able to understand the political affairs of a country and this would strengthen the democracy of Canada. According to Elizabeth Grattan, she had the most fascinating manifesto saying that the test is used to measure knowledge on how government works. During this test, many people ask if questions like, what will happen if fail the test? Is it a must to pass the test for you to vote? The study shows that you do not have to pass the test so as to vote because they are unlearned people who need to vote and when they do not vote you will be denying them their rights although they should be taught a thing or two so as to understand about political issues.

According to Miss B 83, she opposed the idea of having a test before voting because she considered as an insult to the citizens of Canada. Research shows that about 28% of citizens in the United States opposed that test. Some of them said that the test is not logic because their government is democratic and it should not allow the educated people to vote only. The government is "by the people, for the people" and allowing educated people would undermine the rights of the uneducated citizens. The people claimed that voting is a human right and not a legal right. They were protesting that the test results should determine whether a person should vote or not. All people are the same no matter their race and they should be allowed to vote for the leaders and issues that they want. Since it is not stated in the constitution, you should not be denied the right of voting because of a vote that you might fail. There are people who understand politics very clearly and they are not educated and they end up making the right decisions when they are voting.

Conclusion

Zane 360 claimed that conducting the test on voter-competency is one of the procedures in going the proper direction. This would cause some critical issues to be raised because the citizens would be required to have a voting license so as to vote. The license is to be renewed after every five years at a given amount of fee so that it would remain valid up to the next elections. Since America is a developed country, they considered it important to take a test before voting so as to understand what is really going on in the government. People argued that due to improved technology in the United States, people had to learn about various issues concerning the country. For example, the US has many nuclear weapons that are very dangerous and if the government falls apart, notorious politicians might use them to attack other countries with no apparent reason. This motivated 72% of the citizens to advocate for the test because it is important to have basic knowledge about political issues.
