Protecting the interest of the people of the country of my birth is a very fulfilling experience for me as I serve in the Army. My country is home to my parents, siblings and hard-working fellow citizens. For this reason, I feel the obligation that these categories of people require my protection from enemies who continue to pose serious threats not only to their lives but also to their livelihoods. When for example terrorists threaten the lives of the mentioned, it creates a calling for me to act in their defense. To a large extent, it implies that I am protecting myself indirectly and this is done with great pride. Indeed, I was filled with great pride when I took the Oath of Enlistment after successfully going through the recruitment process to join the Army. Wearing the Army uniform with the elegant Army budge also uplift the pride greatly. The uniform reminds me that not everybody gets the chance to serve in the US Army. So, being in the Army must be approached with dedication and commitment to hoist the national flag high as an honor to this rare opportunity accorded to me.

Moreover, serving the Army gives me a chance to interact with fellow officers daily as we carry out Army assignments. These interactions enable me to learn leadership communication and friendship skills necessary for me to work with others as a team. The Army is full of people from diverse backgrounds; race, religion, color, and gender, among others. Working with these individuals lets me learn the unique settle skills they possess about the job we do and how we relate with each other. I feel that these experiences are vital in building my personality to becoming a better person as a human being in the context or relating to others.

My presence in the Army entails protecting those that matter most to me. Some citizens have to take sacrifice to protect others. I am one of the few who have chosen the Army to achieve these objectives. Serving the Army generates considerable pride in me. Protecting our flag and wearing the Army uniform alongside the badge brings a lot of honor to my conscience as a person. I value these aspects of the Army intensely. Lastly, the Army has enabled me to get the necessary skills that have made me a better person. Interacting with people from all races, color, religion, and gender, I have become a better person, and I have a wider perspective on how I view people and issues because of the skills I have acquired for being in the Army.
