Introduction

The application of information technology is essential to business operations. Regardless of the size of the organization, technology has concrete and abstract benefits that help the enterprise to be profitable, and meet the needs of the customers within a short run. According to Roberts and Grover (235), technological infrastructure has enormous effects on the business culture, relationship and its efficiency. It has also impacted on the trade advantages and confidential information of the firm. In the modern business environment, speed is the primary factor for business operation. Employing information technology in this field increases the rate of work and enhances the flow of business activities from delivery to the marketing of the products (Trainor 170). It is worth noting that the advancement of technology in today's business environment facilitates communication and logical power that firms require in the global business. Research indicates that for an enterprise to survive in a competitive environment it has to come up with innovative products that can be achieved with the help of technology. Personally, I am interested in marketing. Therefore, I will employ Information technology in the field of marketing to expose the products of my company and make them known in the global market.

Chosen Field of Study

My chosen field of study is marketing. By definition, marketing refers to the activities such as creating, communicating, distributing, advertising and exchanging information that is valuable to the customers (Roberts and Grover 235). These processes help the marketers to establish additional values that aim at attracting new consumers to the market. For marketing activity to be productive, the marketers must ensure that they form a good relationship with the customers. The bond can only be created through communication. As s such, Information technology will be useful as it forms communication channel through various media such as radio, television, social media and print media. All these channels help in the advertisement of the program. They; therefore, support the marketing process in the organization.

Technology Angle

As stated, the use of technology is vital in the field of marketing. Its significant role is to provide a channel where the producers, the distributors and the consumers can interact and communicate effectively (Berisha-Namani 103). One technology angle that interests me is the emergence of the internet. The Internet has enabled the company to create websites where it can advertise its products. The internet has also influenced the development of social media platforms that help the company to expose the products and services to attract new customers. The other technological angle is the marketing software called Vocus. It is cloud-based software that assists with acquisition and retention of customers by helping the markers to communicate with the customers through the social media and other online channels.

Information Technology Description

Generally, information technology refers to the application of computers, networking, storage and other external components for the purpose of creating, processing, storing, and retrieving all forms of electronic data (Trainor 170). In marketing, it is the use of web, social media, mobile phones, computers and consumer relationship management systems to increase the level of marketing in the business environment CITATION Mit12 \p 2010 \l 1033 (Mithas 2010). One crucial reason for involving technology in the business set up is for the growth and success of the enterprise. Other importance of technology in this field is that it creates business relationships, enables the individuals to learn new ideas from each other, and strengthens the business operation (Roberts and Grover 235). In so doing, technology acts as a tool to increase the overall efficiency of the firm.

Impacts of IT on Marketing

One of the effects of the use of IT in my chosen field is that it has promoted advertisement. Through the use of social media and their internet, the marketers have had an opportunity to sell most of the products through online platforms. They have also created awareness and attracted new customers. As a result, the firm has doubled its profit with the assistance of the information technology. Another impact is that the consumers and the suppliers have been able to access numerous data through the use of the internet (Smith, Dinev and Xu 990). This access has helped the distributors to learn more about other international business organizations. By doing so, the enterprise has innovated new products and services through internet research. Another impact is that the business has expanded due to the creation of good relationships with the customers and the external companies. Another effect is that the firm has decreased its liability by minimizing the cost of expected business failures.

Why the Subject is Interesting

This subject is fascinating because technology has done wonders in the marketing field. For instance, the organization has reached a global market because of the online communication, advertisement and sale of the products. Indeed, technology in marketing and business has made living worthwhile. Therefore, it cannot be denied that the marketing landslide for the enterprise has changed rapidly in the current knowledge economy. The most interesting part is that researchers have predicted that businesses will not have redundancy of information due to the use of technology that often works accurately.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the application of information technology in the field of marketing has been advantageous to the business operation. The use of internet, social media and marketing software such as Vocus has helped in the advertisement of the business product through the online system. This move has enabled the business to reach the global market. The firm has also attracted more customers hence, increasing its profit. Besides, the organization has been able to innovate products and services because the technology has enabled online research. Therefore, the success of the business has been promoted by the information technology.
