Introduction
China and Malay have rich, which manifests their cultures through the unique artworks practiced in the land. China and Malay are great economic friends and shares various creative design projects. It should be appreciated that people develop into cultural beings by participating in cultural related practices and activities that happen around them (Appiah, 2014). This results in cultural creation that is unique to human beings and may result in a new cultural environment (Liu, Liu & Zhang, 2017). Cultural creation, therefore, has a significant impact when it comes to the principles and practices of design studies. Long (2014) argues that design study has to take a close examination of a given culture to meet its expectations. This, therefore, follows that the design studies will make use of visual communication to be effective in conveying information to a given culture (Mitchell et al., 2014). In a democratic society, visual communication can be used to portray varied details about a given culture (Beinart, 2014). However, it should as well be noted that the relationship between culture, democracy, and arts has subsequently been precarious in modern society (Liu, Liu & Zhang, 2017. The purpose of this research proposal will be to investigate into the integrated research methods of design, management, and sociology, analysis and compare Malay and Chinese design projects, current trends and development status of Malaysian and Chinese creative design projects and lastly discovering and sorting of general issues that are relevant.
Research Questions
What is the current development status and trends of contemporary Chinese and Malaysian creative design?
How does culture embrace visual communication?
What is the economic benefit of culture?
How does a design study enhance visual communication?
Research Objectives and Statement of Problems
To establish the current development status and trends of contemporary Chinese and Malaysian creative design.
To investigate how culture embrace visual communication.
To determine the economic benefit of culture.
To investigate how to design study enhance visual communication.
The man aim of this research will be geared towards achieving these objectives. The, therefore, the researcher will have addressed the research question. Ultimately, the research exercise will have provided a solution to the main research problem; what is the design Mode of Cultural Creation Based on the Spirit of Democracy.
Literature Reviews
Development Status and Trends of Current Chinese and Malaysian Creative Design
Modest fashion current develops an interest in redesigning the fashion power map. Malaysia and China have emerged to one of the key players. Malaysia, for instance, has its fashion influenced by the historical fashion of Chines and India (Guth, 2014). Kaula Lumpur Fashion Week, which has been held since the year 2000, has proven to be the central platform for making Malaysia as an upcoming fashion region (Meyer &Fourie, 2018). With the existence of rich neighbors such as Brunei which is willing to use some of its available resources on style, Malaysia stands a chance to accomplish its mission.
How Culture Embraces Visual Communication
Visual communication is the art of disseminating information to various people via the use of images, gestures, posters, and signs. It provides the most efficient way of passing information since the brain of human beings process things in pictures. Furthermore, most people respond swiftly to visual images as opposed to plain text (Mitchell et al., 2014). Culture uses visual communication as a transparent mean of passing valuable information (Liu, Liu & Zhang, 2017). Images such as paintings, advertising logos, and photographs have the power of instant recognition that text cannot compare with (Beinart, 2014). The visual culture concerning the use of book has gained strength to the extent of overtaking the reading culture of texts (Spaiser et al., 2014). Culture, therefore, makes use of visual communication as a tool of conveying information instantly. This has created a growing fear that children are abandoning books in preference of visual excitement they get from the internet. This results in the creation of a culture that is visually inspired.
Economic Benefits of Culture
The economic success of any country is heavily inclined on the nature of its culture. A country whose culture is founded on hard work, making money, and having a good life will always have a robust economic foundation (Ryan, Coughlan & Cronin, 2015). Chinese, for example, is by nature non-violent and most of them are not prone to committing a crime (Meyer &Fourie, 2018). This creates a culture that is characterized by good morality (Meyer &Fourie, 2018). A culture where and honesty provides a pleasant atmosphere for the successful growth of economic activities.
How Design Studies Enhances Visual Communication
The effectiveness of visual communication heavily relies on the efficiency and effectiveness of the art of design. Design studies being an academic discipline makes use of a critical understanding of principles of design to come up with advanced design pattern that is effective in conveying visual information (Liu, Liu & Zhang, 2017). The design studies, therefore, take consideration of cultural background when coming up with the final design product
Significance of the Study
The research will be very vital to society as it will have a significant contribution to knowledge. For instance, the subsequent analysis of the findings will help in appreciating the understanding of the design mode of cultural creation that is founded on the spirit of democracy (Meyer &Fourie, 2018). It will also help in understanding the aspect of visual communication and its role in the field of art and design (Sjoraida, Asmawi, & Anwar, 2018). Furthermore, it helps in understanding the relationship between culture and design and how culture influences design patterns.
Research Methodology
The researcher will employ the use of a mixed method of data collection since it will be very vital in complementing the shortcomings of quantitative and qualitative method. Since quantitative methods do not allow the researcher to get a full understanding of the behaviors of the respondent or attitude concerning the subject of discussion, the limitation can be easily offset by making use of qualitative methods such as interview (Ryan, Coughlan & Cronin, 2015). Long (2014) argues that mixed method has the advantage of providing a holistic approach of tackling the research comprehensively. The researcher will also use discussions as the primary method of data collection since this will provide room for customizing questions in a form that be easily understood by the respondents.
Furthermore, the researcher will be in a position of evaluating the effectiveness of the research via interviews since interviews make it easy to study the behavior and reactions of the respondent (Jablin& Miller, 2015). The researcher will also make use of questionnaires as a quantitative method because this will help him gather a large amount of data within a short period (Katz-Buonincontro& Anderson, 2018). Other ways of data collection that will be used include focus groups, experimental and surveys depending on the prevailing situation and where they best fit.
