Introduction
The gun control measures in The United States has become an intriguing issue to the government itself as well as the citizens at large. Gun control measures are a set of laws, policies, and regulations governing the manufacture, sale or possession of firearms by the civilians living in The US. It has been passed following the attacks happening in learning institutions as well as other government-related agencies. Militant groups are seen to be driven by the religious affiliations carrying out massive killing as a form of revenge targeting the US government. The gun control measures take into action under consideration of the following essential aspects, the age limit; the government curtails possession of guns, ammunition, and rifles on individuals under the age of 18. The owner of the gun, transient individuals poses a significant threat to the society at all times.
These federal laws block people who are known to have been charged with criminal cases in the court for more than two years from owning the guns. Apart from these, drug traffickers dealing in controlled acts such as the sale of marijuana though it is legal in some of the states in the US are also inhibited from owning guns. Background checking is also an important aspect to consider for individuals purchasing guns in the US since it is clear that those people responsible for mass shooting are known to have been barred by the government from owning guns. The result has happened since there has been minimal background checking. These measures also look forward to eliminating bump stocks since it leads to assembling of automatic firearms and other perilous weapons. Risk protection orders are agreed upon to be put in place extremely to mitigate violence and attacks.
The gun control measures in the USA has both advantages and disadvantages. Some of the benefits include the reduction of suicidal deaths and accidents. Statistically, it has been found that most deaths in the United States have been seen to result from guns in comparison to other methods. Ownership of guns by the right people, the widespread ownership of guns may lead to ownership by wrong people whose intentions are revenge oriented to the government such as Islamic extremists such as the ISIL notorious group. (Barrister et al.2018)
The gun control measure also leads to a reduction in homicide deaths. A country having very high restrictive laws tend to have minimum homicide rates than a country that has less strict laws. For instance in other countries, it is unlawful to own a gun if someone is not a farmer or a police officer thus reduction of unnecessary violence-related deaths. This measure has also faced criticisms since it harbors from having the rights to ownership of guns. ( Presse et al.2017) Citizens will not be in a position of owning significance weapons for self-defense purposes thus exposing them to attacks by criminals in the society such as the Muslim Jihadists.
It is also known to make the government too much power since the residents are prevented from accessing the guns thus leading to the development of a tyrannical government where people are ruled inappropriately. Citizens have not given chances of making proposals concerning their needs and want because the government makes suggestions and implementations that might require not suite an ordinary citizen.
The law can result in the criminal dominance in the society. It is because the locals are inhibited from owning the weapons defending themselves during an attack, therefore, putting them in a defenseless state. The criminals will take advantage as a result of this measure hence poising regular threats to many in the society. The measure leads to the increment of violent crimes as a result of the increase in homicide rates due to banning on peoples' ownership of guns in the country.
Conclusion
The gun control measures in the United States is mainly oriented at securing and empowering the lives of the citizens including both the citizens as well as emigrants residing in the US land and thus wiping people with fatal intentions towards the United States. It happens as a result of the upcoming unrest and fear which has also been witnessed in some parts of the world.
