Introduction
Information technology has brought about the need for managers and employees to be well equipped and adapt to the new technology. Improving performances will require managers to know web source codes, programming, and technology crisis. The paper will introduce the meanings, give examples and indicate the importance of each aspect to a manager.
Programming also known as coding is the action of writing a computer program, through algorithms and encoding using a programing language to be executed by a computer. Programming can be described as the creation of software (Ebrahimi, 2005, p.22). A program has three important fundamentals known as sequence, decision making and repeat. Example include the C++, Cobol, and Java (Ebrahimi & Walsh, 2018, p.5). Programming becomes important to managers since it is crucial in speeding up the process involved between input and output processes by the computers in an organization.
Source code can be described as a computer program, with instructions, loops, statements, and functions. A web source code is a document and not a program and is written in different languages which include HTML markup language or Java (Ebrahimi, 2005, p.24). The web source code can be viewed in internet browsers when using the internet. Examples of web source codes include javascript, CSS, and HTML (Rainer, Cegielski, Splettstoesser-Hogeterp, & Sanchez-Rodriguez, 2013, p.22). It is essential for managers to be aware of the source codes they use when browsing and can be used to customize the software used in organizations (Ebrahimi & Walsh, 2018, p.5).
A technology crisis is brought about by the application of technology and science by people. The crisis happens when the technology being used becomes more complex, and something goes wrong in the system being used ((Ebrahimi, 2005, p.24, 25). Some of the technological crisis occur due to human error as the computers and software being used are subject to human manipulation. An example of a technological crisis includes software failures and industrial accidents. The importance of technology crisis is that it enables the organization to come up with methods and ways of handling the crisis and operate effectively (Ebrahimi, 2005, p.25).
Conclusion
On a personal note, the manager's knowledge on the programming and technological issues should be a pre-requisite. Nowadays, technology has been implemented almost everywhere, and it is crucial for managers to be involved in decision-making through technology (Ebrahimi & Walsh, 2018, p.8). All these can be achieved when managers acquire knowledge in programming to enhance performances and enable effective management.
