Leadership is a privilege that comes with responsibilities to inspire and direct others so as to achieve their goals. Especially when one is a nurse, leadership becomes more diverse because one is leading a team that deals with human care. As such, one has to be extra approachable so that the staff and the patients feel comfortable at all times. In the nursing field, strive between offering quality health care and ensuring the staff is well looked at is one worth a strategy. This is because it involves recognition and rewarding of contributions to the health facilities, and also checking not to compromise quality. Nurse leaders have a responsibility to the community and staff to foster transparency in all aspects. In my pursuit of safe, quality and excellent patient care, I will seek to develop my leadership philosophy statement.

My thoughts about leadership have been influenced by my personal traits, part of my greatest talent beyond being a nurse is uplifting others as it brings a lot of happiness to me. Most of my friends at a job, and elsewhere would often come to me to look for advice or just empty their minds. For this reason, I believe I am a natural leader inspired by transformation and servanthood.

My thoughts about leadership are inspired by the theory of transformational leadership because I believe in encouraging the employees to give their best at the workplace. I also believe in positive motivation in a common vision and mission because it is highly productive. This type of leadership style is only effective with a nurse who is a smart leader, and this what I am striving to be (Caldwell et al. 2011).

Transformational leadership involves emotional and intuitive nature of nurses by laying emphasis on personal relationship with the staff and patients. I intend to show strength as a leader so that each of my team members will cultivate the norm even beyond the confines of the workplace. I will strive to be a facilitator of change, an advocate of the weak, joy bringer, not just a nurse. That for me is transformation (Nihart, 2016).

My choice of leadership is informed by leadership experiences that I encounter every day as a nurse. Being faced with situations where inspiration and keeping the vision is inevitable, I feel this will be the greatest motivation and requires someone with leadership skills. Some experiences such as doing whatever that is best and possible for a patient are fueled by hope, and hope is good for recovery and cure. The situation of having to offer hope and the best service at the worst or near worst moments of an individual is what to me, requires transformation. I believe in striving to assist transformation in health care helping by interprofessional colleagues recognize the worth of their job (Nihart, 2016). I also believe in safeguarding the nurses' professionalism. In many occasions, I have had to clarify about the nurses' professionalism. Often, the public is misinformed about our expertise and their duties. I will always, strive to edit this reality as a leader nurse.

As a nurse leader, I share my vision when delicate situations come up and need my attention. I believe in the responsibility of inspiring a shared vision thus, my vision is not positional as it is influenced also by a number of external factors, by recognizing our current state and the future and putting at the core of our vision and the priorities of the hospital (Caldwell et al. 2011).

I believe in sticking to our vision always in our decision making and actions. My vision is not positional as thoughts will focus on our ability as a team not as an individual, to steer success and excellent services to our clients. I believe in a culture of ownership. I encourage my fellow nurses to be innovative and creative to exceed their responsibilities. For this reason, I lead by influencing; my vision is not positional because it inspires the staff to become their best. I will share my vision every time we set the goals as a team to achieve charisma that goes beyond realities (Caldwell et al. 2011).

I tend to have collective decision making informed by evidence from the local context, public health sources, political and community preference. Because thought leadership manages the major stakeholders and focuses on the relationship between the management and management, inclusivity of ideas will ensure that the ultimate decision is widely accepted for optimum performance (McCrimmon, 2015).

Since decisions are likely to be made abruptly owing to unanticipated events, I am willing to take risks only in events that the decisions are ethical, and does not violate the professional beliefs to yield the best for an employee or a patient. Culminating to this, future solutions will be immediately developed. In my focus to promote welfare, wholeness and growth, a concern that warrants a worth risk will definitely be pursued (Caldwell et al 2011).

I advocate for total adherence to professional ethics and I take it upon myself not to violate both personal and ethical principles. I believe in quality services for the patients because they are the main stakeholders. For this to be achieved, I will expect the nurses to act with the confines of the set ethical guidelines. Since quality is a multifaceted concept from the provider, payer or patient perspective, I will lay emphasizes on its tiers i.e. prudence, beneficence, and maleficence (Huycke & Anita, 2000). Since health care services is an area in which erroneous actions are likely to yield serial complexities, I will not compromise ethical principles such as cheating, lying and blaming others for your mistake. Never walk past your mistake knowingly because it is a poor mistake. In addition, I will not tolerate imprudence i.e. I will expect all the staff to use reason in making every sound decisions so as to yield the best results for all the stakeholders, especially the patient (Huycke & Anita, 2000). I will also not accept negligence of duty.

At times my personal beliefs on diversity and inclusion impact on my philosophy negatively. I recognize the competitive advantage of diversity in regard to creativity, flexibility etc. and as such, I will strive to foster a favourable climate for employee engagement therefore, diversity and inclusion supersede my philosophy. I will want each to feel included and recognized for the contribution that each brings. Once again I will work towards winning your trust by a means of full inclusion of diversities (Downey et al. 2014). I will not hesitate to pursue any ethical practice but makes all of you feel included. The best way to deliver efficiently is through teamwork. I believe in drawing an interwoven team consisting of talented personnel that has extreme clarity and is cohesive. I believe in developing teams that can work effectively in my absentia with a calculated risk-taking. We are likely to make mistakes but expect that we will take special effort to learn from them. Expect that I will support each of you even in your down moments, and to continually invest in your personal wellbeing and development and the future of our health facility (Leonard & Frankel, 2011).

When my leadership beliefs are challenged I put emphasis on recognition of the role of strategic communication in able leadership, I welcome different opinions, perspectives and I do not view disagreement as disloyalty. I lay emphasis on healthy debates during evaluation of alternative ways of solving problems and in meetings. Whenever one legitimately wants to challenge any of my practices or beliefs, they are welcome to visit my office for a face to face meeting or send an email. Do not tell what pleases me or what I want to here. At all times, tell me what I need to be aware of so that I make informed decisions, and I guarantee I will always do the same for you. I want to win your trust but by upholding having a quality nature of communication (Daniel, 2006).

Conclusion

The true measure of my success as I lead is the success that each of you enjoys. I am therefore committed to providing guidance, feedback, resource tools, and direction. I am your servant, and we are together in this because we need each other. I will prepare a document that highlights some of my priorities, and how I plan to steer this facility forward with my decisions. I count on you to hold me accountable in living my leadership principles. In return, I will regard you with the highest ethical and professional standards.
