Introduction

Natural scientific research varies in its objects, procedures, and the results obtained in such research. That shows how research involving social sciences and humanities could be even more tiresome and burdensome. It is more problematic when one is required to industrialize, look for markets, and give opinions about their research. Research forms the necessary foundation for art and related studies. It is a documentation of cultural events and therefore requires a balance between innovation and tradition. Tradition with a lack of research would be to take over something blindly, while innovation devoid of research is mere intuition. All scientists teach, judge, and offer knowledge based on evidence-based research. It is, therefore, safe to say that all science is research. Art also requires thorough research to advance the messages and teach, but all art cannot be treated as research. Art and science are related, and thus everything can be described as either being artistic or less artistic as opined by Klein (2010).

Artistic Experience

It is sensible and opaque; it is described as the perspective style of reasonable interfering frames. Thus the applicable definition is to have an impression of a frame while still outside and enter it to appear. The experience and the aesthetic touch are modes of our perception and exist even out of artistic places and cultural objects. In the experience, the subjective perception is included as it cannot be downplayed. The artistic experience is dependent on and cannot be separated from the underlying happenings. Therefore, it is an active, constructive, and aesthetic process that contains mode and substance inbound and remains inseparable.

Artistic Research

From the description above of art being a mode of perspective, it is also safe to say artistic research is a mode of process. Therefore, there is no clear distinction between artistic research and scientific research, as both involve searching for knowledge. Artistic research can also be classified as scientific research, and for that reason, artistic research is, at many times, interdisciplinary. In researching an art, artistic experience may occur several with the duration and point of occurrence varying with different importance. This sets the precedence for a dynamic taxonomy, although it complicates the research process. There are several ways through which any type of research can be artistic. Firstly, it is through the methods which are divided into various categories. Besides, research can be artistic in inspiration, reflection, motivation, formulation of research questions and discussions, implementation, evaluation, conception, publication, and discourse.

Artistic Knowledge

All the questions surrounding the existence of human nature are common examples of artistic and scientific interests. The answers to those questions are not purely scientific, and art is given a provision to address such basal and yet complex issues after formulating them. Whether any form of research has the entire basis for qualifying as artistic or not depends on the questions the research will answer and whether they are purely artistic. To agree that knowledge is a justified true belief, there is a need to question further when we accept that an opinion is a belief and justification. Doing artistic research requires that one has artistic knowledge and prepares for the same adequately.

Collection of Art during this Period of Coronavirus Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has affected many life processes with social joints remaining closed for the better part of the year. Various governments gave directives to be observed during this period with the hope of reducing the rates of infections in their citizens and country at large. The virus began in China and was transmitted to other countries whose nationals were in other countries that had been hit hard and needed to come home. Every country worldwide was affected in a short time, and measures had to be taken to make sure people were safe, and the rate of infections remained at levels that could be managed. However, some countries could not contain their situations, and their infections spiraled to uncontrolled infection rates. Consequently, there were deaths recorded from the infections, and stringent measures were imposed like lockdowns and curfews. With the ban on social gatherings, entertainment joints suffered a blow as they rely on people to make profits. Entertainment includes even art that is in museums and other places and the traditions of various people.

The ban on social gatherings affected the gathering of pieces of information in terms of art that could be used in research. The problems were experienced when the places where those pieces of art were closed down and any form of the movement was banned. That implied that it was now impossible to get those pieces of art. However, there was a remedy to that through online platforms and catalogs where one could look up something in the museum and find it more comfortable. However, there is that feeling and the authenticity that comes with seeing and touching a piece of art. It brings one closer to the experience being portrayed in the art, and therefore describing the work becomes easier for anyone wishing to research the piece of art. However, some people cannot hold down their needs, and thus museums were opened for one to experience the artworks. They just had to follow the rules and guidelines as dictated by the government.

Collecting artwork and doing research in this period has been hectic as one must be clean and prevent the spread of the disease. The protocols involved the need for one always to observe the rules of social distancing. Also, people were encouraged to use their sanitizers always and avoid moving objects while at the museum. The process was burdensome and overworked the already filled brain, full of the research to be done. Those were pieces of art that we were able to be found in the museum. One could quickly identify their interests. The problem came when one needed to visit communities say for their tradition to be documented and stored; the pandemic has led to some communities not doing their traditional ceremonies, which an artistic researcher would have used.

The move to research in a museum was also challenging because of the social distancing protocols involved. If one had a team whom they were doing the research together, it would have been hard for them to get the same information at once, which could be time-wasting. The move to a community could also mean that the art that was to be performed will be performed in a tense situation as people were afraid of contracting the infectious disease. Nevertheless, I was able to finish my research, and I will include my pieces of art with this document.
