In your own words, differentiate between a LAN and the "Cloud". Use of the cloud is expanding; what potential drawbacks can you anticipate to this, as opposed to the LAN?
A LAN is a local area network that connects computers within an area, mostly a single room. The computers share information using the LAN Network either wirelessly or using a LAN cable (Sadiku, 2018). Resources such as a printer, internet, among others, are shared effectively using the LAN network. Cloud network is a server that is used for various functions on the internet, such as accessing links or storing online information (Rittinghouse & Ransome2016).
Some of the drawbacks that result from sing cloud computing are, the business must always be connected to the internet, security issues, limited factors, loss of control, and technical issues ((Rittinghouse & Ransome2016)). The users of the cloud can be subjected to hacking, which results in loss of information or personal information falling into the wrong hands. Cloud computing is a public network, and therefore the information contained in it can be easily accessed
In the Tarrantino classic "Pulp Fiction" the question was asked, "Do you listen or wait to talk? If someone were to ask you that question, what would your answer be? Why do you think so many of us would have to honestly answer "wait to talk"? In a business setting, what benefits can be gained from really listening?
If a person asks whether I listen or wait to talk, my answer would be both. When listening, I have ample time to construct a response that is in line with the topic. Listening enables a person to fully comprehend the information given and understand the point of view of the person talking. Waiting to talk is also important because when internalizing the information, different questions formulate in the mind which needs to be addressed by talking.
The benefits of listening in a business context are that it improves interpersonal relationships between the staff and the management in an organization. Managers with excellent listening skills understand the need to allow the subordinates to air their views. It is also crucial to listen to new ideas from all the stakeholders in an organization because the information given is crucial for the improvement of service delivery.
In running a business, describe costs and benefits resulting from exceeding legal standards and running what you believe to be a highly ethical operation.Exceeding legal standard s and running a business in a highly ethical operation is very beneficial to an organization. Customer loyalty is developed because they will develop a bond with the business resulting from the trust developed. The employees in an organization are also retained because their motivation factors will be adequately addressed. The business will not have legal costs arising from unethical operations and legal suits by clients.
The cost of exceeding legal standards is that it limits the profitability of the firm. A business operating in an environment where the government requires protection of the surrounding environment from degradation will incur a high cost. Running a business by adhering to the ethical operation may also require an organization to compensate employee's high remuneration resulting in low profits.
Explain how one American citizen could benefit from a "strong" dollar (compared to the Euro) while another could be hurt by it.
An American citizen traveling to a country that uses Euros will benefit from a strong dollar due to its purchasing power. The dollar will be able to purchase any goods in a Euro-denominated country than in their motherland. A strong dollar will hurt a person using Euros because the purchasing power of the Euro will be low. He or She will need to use more Euros to purchase the same goods purchased by one dollar.
