A scope statement enables a project manager to integrate the elements of the project management plan. It defines a project by giving details of its key deliverables, objectives, and work needed to achieve the objectives. The paper, therefore, seeks to discuss the various elements of scope statements.

The first element is the product scope description. It is a detailed description of what the project is expected to deliver. It provides details of the features and functions of the product or service and enables a product manager to answer the question on what type of product is being produced (Al Amria, & Marey-Perezb, 2020). The second element is the product acceptance criteria. It provides details of the measurement criteria, which will be used to establish if the product has met the requirements (Altintas & Kavurmaci, 2018). These are standards needed to satisfy customers' quality expectations hence making them accept the final product (Cheng, Kessler, Mackinnon, Chang, Nadkarni, Hunt, & Hui, 2016).

The third element is the project deliverables. It details the objectives of the project and includes the product or service, and the results expected from undertaking a project (Donovan, Lupton, & Mardikar, 2019). The fourth element is the project exclusions (Xu, 2019). It provides details of things that the project will not achieve or produce. It includes elements and factors beyond the boundaries of a project (Mmako & Van Rensburg, 2017). The fifth element is the project constraints (Idawati & Yusuf, 2019). It provides details of the various restrictions limiting the achievement of a project. The three types of project constraints include technological constraints, resource constraints, and physical constraints (Xia, Xiong, Skitmore, Wu, & Hu, 2016). The last element is the project assumptions, which detail the assumptions made when planning a project. For instance, in the case of a project requiring an individual with specific technical skills, an assumption can be made that the individual will be available when required.
