Motivational as a skill applies in various fields of life. Learning institutions are among the areas that seem to have adopted motivational skills for it to achieve its success. The majority of learning organizations incorporate motivational techniques as a way of encouraging their students to attain their set goals. Teachers taking part in motivating their students will help them to abstain from negative thoughts such as immoral behaviors. The paper will, therefore, focus on ways in which teachers make learning interesting through motivations. Examples of these strategies include offering a variety of options to the students, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each learner, rewarding performed students, teachers being role models to their students, enrolling learners in group discussions, giving equal chances of participation, different method of teaching and setting attainable goals for their students.
Several effective techniques have been adopted and incorporated into learning institutions by teachers to make learning interesting. Guiding and counseling as motivational techniques are usually applied by teachers in their learning institutions to enable the students to put more effort into their academic studies. Also, teachers have incorporated the technique of guiding and counseling techniques to help the learners identify where they have gone wrong and, after that, look for the remedy of their failures. The other effect of guiding and counseling is that it enables the students to embark on their set goals hence leading to their success. Moreover, teachers guide and counsel their students to pave the way for them, thus helping them to know how to handle challenges that they might encounter in their lives.
Teachers have also practiced the technique of role model by acting in a way that signifies a positive attitude towards the subject matter of their presentation. This has created a positive attitude among the students, even if the topic being address is complex. The incorporation of examples during their presentation is another strategy used by teachers. The need for applying an example in teaching by most teachers is to make the learners get more details pertaining to the course. They emphasize the need for studying a certain course, its future career, thus making the students be aware of their various target courses.
Teachers normally focus on understanding each individual student. They majorly want to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the students enrolled in the courses they teach. The essence of understanding each student is to know how to handle him/her during the learning process. Therefore, easing the learning process because each learner will be able to acquire academic based on the level of understanding.
Teachers take part in informing their students to set their target goals. They normally urge the students to set attainable goals. They usually assist their students in achieving their goals by providing them with enough learning materials. After informing them to set their goals, they make a follow up on the performance of each student. The need for a follow up is to make them achieve their set goals. Teachers also praise their students in a positive way by offering rewards to them. The rewarded students will feel appreciated for their work, thereby making them aim higher grades hence leading to the attainment of their goals.
They emphasize positive praise not only on performed students but also those who perform poorly in their exams. This technique act as a mean of appreciating the work done by students regardless of their failures, thus motivating them not lose hope in their dreams.
Involving students in matters relating to the decision-making process is the other motivation technique that has been employed by most of the teachers while offering their services to the students. Engaging students in a free decision-making process will enable them to make their own choices on their interesting part of the study. Teachers also use motivational speakers to enhance their teaching. The importance of engaging motivational speakers in learning is to break the monotony among the students that might result due to being taught by the same teacher over a certain period. Motivational speakers will expose them to a new environment, thus gaining positive acts after the end of their programs (Sieberer-Nagler, Katharina, 168).
Furthermore, teachers normally change their learning routines, depending on the circumstances. Some students are active in-class activities while others are talented in field events. Therefore, teachers value each student according to their nature. Teachers also give chances to all students, especially those who are shy to share with their classmates their ideas. Offering opportunities to these students will enhance equality in terms of participation, thus enabling them to gain the courage to speak in public places. They also take part in enrolling students in group discussions. As a result of students engaging in group discussions, this will enable them to share their different ideas. Through the act of sharing ideas, learners will acquire new ideas, hence enabling them to cope with the problems affecting them.
Teachers inform their students on the set rules and guidelines. Every institution has set rules that give direction to the entire organization. The set guidelines play a key role among the learners by eradicating cases of indiscipline among the students (Moore, Kenneth, 20). They have ensured fairness, for instance, marking the exams of the learners based on the ability of each student. They normally offer grades to the students as a way of proofing the ability of each student to master what he/she has been taught. Fair awarding of grades is one of the techniques that is used by teachers while enhancing their teaching. This strategy is significant among the learners because it gives chances to the weak students to deserve their grades in an honest manner, thus motivating them to aim for higher grades.
In conclusion, teaching is a process that requires techniques to endure it. Motivation is among the techniques used by most of the teachers to enhance their works. Teachers have adopted this strategy to create a good relationship between them and the learners. They have come up with several methodologies on how to support their students to attain their set goals. Guiding and counseling are one of the techniques that have been deployed by teachers because it helps the learners to abstain from their problems and focus on their set goals. Students have also been inspired by their teachers through open participation, especially on matters relating to decision making. Through students' access to informed decisions, it has enabled them to make a variety of choices, for instance, choosing projects they wish to undertake.
The application of the varied technique of teachings is another technique used by teachers to offer their services. They call for motivational speakers to share with their students hence making them gain new ideas that are useful in their lives. Teachers also understand the abilities of their students; therefore, whenever they make mistakes, they know how to rectify them. Students who performed well in their academic studies are also rewarded as a way of appreciation. Those who rarely perform in their studies are encouraged and given more room for improvement by their respective teachers.
