Introduction

Human service is a field that unites professional fields that deal with the development of human beings regarding counseling, education, sociology among other domains. The discipline helps professionals in institutions and organizations to solve their needs and concerns in their attempt to provide services to their clients. There are set standards that human services follow and this paper will respond to some of these standards as they relate to the biblical verses.

Thread One

The thread encourages human professionals to embrace the virtues of confidentiality, non-discrimination based on race, the tribe or even sexual orientation; solving issues that arise between them amicably, adhering to the commitments they made to their employers and also keep on learning to gain more knowledge so that they can assist others. According to Marek, Schaufeli & Maslach (2017), human professionals should uphold the values of dignity and appreciate the difference in cultures so that they can continue being non-judgmental when they are serving their clients. Being non-judgmental helps in alleviating stereotypes and false perceptions that an individual can have towards a specific group of people. The thread points out the importance of learning. Continuous research also enhances knowledge. For instance, in the counseling profession, it is important to research on the appropriate therapies which keep on changing as time goes. All these values are linked to the biblical verses, and this shows the need for people to be affiliated with religious organizations.

Thread Two

The second thread puts much emphasis on ethics. Ethical standards guide the behavior of professionals. Monette, Sullivan, & DeJong (2013) assert that every professional should be well equipped with rules and principles that govern human services. That means that they should act with integrity and handle other people with respect. There is also need for the professionals provide to their clients a high standard of professional service that they may need. The thread emphasizes the need to act with professional integrity so that they can win the trust of their clients. Winning trust of clients is important because they submit their personal and confidential information to the professionals, for instance, the medical profession. Generally, the information that is being relayed here is that ethical behavior is the core of what it means to be a good professional. Ethical behavior differentiates professionals from others in the career world. Levy & Slavin (2013) also suggests the demands of codes of ethics which are integrity, being objective, having competence in what a professional does, being fair in judgments and providing professional services diligently.

Thread Three

The third thread generally insists on the importance of professionals to be responsible when dealing with their clients. There is also need to be aware of the social and political matters that affect clients because people have diverse backgrounds. Responsibility means that they should obey the law and put much priority on the demands of the clients above their own. They should also avoid conflicts of interest. The professionals have a responsibility to their profession, their clients, the law and also the society. Therefore they need to show a commitment to their work and perform their duty with due diligence. Biblical verses support this responsibility asserting the fact that it is not only human but also a divine requirement. In this regard, all professionals should ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities act in a way that portrays a good image of their profession. They are the image of their jobs and therefore their various professions will earn the respect of the public depending on how the public perceives them.
