According to the article written by Seleka (2018), the article informs the reader on the importance of not being silent as a mother when your child is abused or when you are in an abusive relationship. Furthermore, fathers should take care of their partners' children even if they are not their biological fathers. The words used by the reporter which might be value-laden included forensic pathologist and turned a blind eye. Forensic pathologist refers to a pathologist who determines an individual's death by examining the corpse while turn a blind eye means pretending not to notice.
The reporter views the father as a person who did not like his partner's child, and that is the reason, he tortured him to death. The torture is evident through second-degree burns of about 60% of his body, broken elbow, and a broken femur. On the other hand, Daniel's mother was negligent of her child, and this resulted in his death. She also feared to report abuse, and this made her stay in an abusive relationship. The author attempts to persuade the reader in adapting to the view of being charged with child neglect if you are not a responsible parent. Also, the reporter provides a solution in this case that the parents finding themselves living in a state of fear of their lives in relationships that are abusive should report to the authorities.
In the article written by Schultz (2018), the reader is informed of a director who tries to cover up a crime in a foster home. However, one of the employees reported the incident after quitting her job as the director was trying to cover up molestation allegations. The loaded word in this article includes lewd molestation. Lewd molestation is intentional mauling or touching private parts or body of a child. The author considers the people involved like the director of the foster home as a child negligent because he failed to report child abuse from his organization. However, the employee who is a key witness is a caring person as she reported the matter to the police even though the director informed her and her co-staff not to write the incident report. The other employees are also portrayed as trustworthy as they said the video was altered.
The author is trying to inform the reader about the importance of reporting an issue even if it is going to destroy the reputation of your organization. After all, the truth will always come out in a case witnessed by many individuals. The author does not provide any solutions. However, the reporter indicated that the Family Support Services decided on seeking safe alternate placement options for the children who were under Torrance Gary's care.
Larsen's (2018) article makes the reader understand the way a repeated failure of the system put the life of a 12-year-old kid in danger. The child called "Charlie" went through years of malnutrition, lack of services for his special needs, and neglect. After being removed under his mother's care. The value-laden words in this article include respite care and indigenous. Respite care is the temporary institutional care of elderly disabled, or sick person and offering relief for their carer while indigenous mean occurring naturally.
The mother is regarded as negligent as she could not take good care of her child who had an autism spectrum disorder. The police and the medics involved in the case are caring and helpful as the police took him to the hospital where the paramedics took good care of him. Ministry of Children and Family Development is also regarded as negligent because they were aware of the child since 2006 but did not provide support or protection. Furthermore, the author is trying to persuade the reader to understand that it is the repeated failure of the system (MCFD) that resulted in Charlie's neglect and abuse. The recommendations provided to meet the needs of children with special needs include identification of the child as indigenous at an early stage, improving access to respite care and special needs services, identifying school-age children not attending schools, and a must training for the special needs' child protection staff.
Haella's (2018) article makes the reader understand the issue where the court rules that the custody of the children be given to the father. The children have lived with their mother for five years as the father allegedly abused the kids sexually and physically for years. The value-laden words, in this case, includes IED, Humvee, and parental alienation. IED is a bomb that is deployed and constructed in other ways instead of conventional military action, Humvee is a tactical vehicle, while parental alienation is the process of child manipulation of a kid showing disrespect to a parent or even family members. In the article, the judge seems not to care about the well being of the children as he did not consider their views before making a decision. On the other hand, the mother is very caring, and that is the reason she wants to have custody of the kids. Slavoff is also concerned about the two brother's welfare as he sees the judge's decision as punitive. Col. Holt, the boys' father, does not care the about their needs he wants to have custody of them.
The author seems to persuade the reader that the judge is unjust through providing different scenarios where fathers were given custody, but they ended killing their children by giving them an unsupervised visit. In one instance the father drowned his three kids after being awarded unsupervised visitation while in another instance a father killed his son on the forth unsupervised visit. The author provides a solution that a mother should stop giving allegations about sexual abuse of their kids against their fathers are never credited. Instead, they should provide other reasons with enough evidence.
The impact that Lovett's (2018) article has on the reader is the abuse caused by Catholic priests. In the article, a 12-year-old boy was abused by a priest who is regarded as an individual who should take good care of the children. The value-laden word in the article is grand-jury. Grand jury is a jury which involves 23 jurors who validate an accusation before trial.
In the article, the reporter considers the Catholic priest as abusive as he sexually assaulted Mr. John Patchcoski when he was 12 years old. The author also states that there 800-page report that documented abuse of over 1000 children. The abused person is also brave but at the same time coward as he reported the matter after over 20 years. The author also persuades the reader to understand that Catholic priest's abuse children sexually through over 1000 documented cases. Also, the author noted that more people have been abused and have not reported the matter. Thus, they should report the issue.
Conclusion
Santo's (2018) article shows the reader that as parents it is essential to take care of our kids. The value-added word in the article is first-degree kidnapping. First-degree kidnapping is the intentional abduction of a person with the intention of inflicting injury, holding a person for ransom, and facilitating the commission of a felony. The authors consider the father and mother of Zaela Walker as uncaring and negligent as they do not care about their child's whereabouts. On the other hand, the police are deemed concerned and caring as they are helping in finding the missing child. The author is trying to make the writer understand that the missing child's parents are negligent as they seemed uncooperative. The author offers a solution by giving the contacts of North Las Vegas Police Department on any person who knows about the child's whereabouts.
