Introduction
Illinois state geologic symbols are essential features that included state soil, a state fossil, state gem, state water, and state mineral. These Illinois geological state symbols are of great importance in managing the USA economy by authorities (Karacan, Drobniak,& Mastalerz, 2014). The US geological survey each day focuses on protecting state symbols through the study of minerals, water, and natural biodiversity across the nation. Illinois symbols are essential as compared to other components, and this paper, therefore, outlines geologic symbols, its uniqueness, and its importance.
Illinois geological state symbols induce positive impacts since most act as a tourist attraction, which is a source of foreign exchange to the US. The US geological survey assesses these state symbols with helped from federal programs through the establishment of quality of water, determining hazardous effects from the earthquake, landslides, and other natural calamities. The Illinois water, which was the main water collection point, served its people and citizens benefit from it.
The Illinois state chose these geological symbols including state water, state minerals, state fossils, state soil, and state rock much as compared to other features such as Illinois state flag, state fruit, state flower, state vegetable, and state snacks because of much impact they have on the state. The state soil, for instance, supports the agricultural sector since agriculture leads to the provision of raw materials for industries, sources of employment, and earned the country a lot of foreign exchange (Karacan, Drobniak, & Mastalerz 2014). The state fossils were installed in museums to attracted tourists, and thus earning the state foreign exchange.
When it comes to state minerals, Illinois is the largest producer of fluorite in the United States of America (McAuliffe, (2003) Fluorite is a critical mineral in industries for the production of steel which is used as cleaning agent or flux, in the manufacture of hydrofluoric acids, hardening of cookware and manufacture of iridescent glass and these when sold earn foreign exchange to the state
Some of the factors that make Illinois State Symbols unique are:
- State soil is considered vital because it is believed that Abraham Lincoln and John Deere spent most of their time on their invention in Illinois (McAuliffe 2003).
- State fossils are geographically located. The state fossils were installed near a temple where after the services people went to check fossils on museums such as a salamander
- Choosing state water- Illinois bordered Ohio and Wabash rivers to the southeast and Mississippi river to the west this was the strategic location where people went to harvest the water
- State rocks are exciting landform that arises from huge moraines to the cliffs which are rocky and deep glacial lakes and canyons rivers and central plains that covered 90 percent stretching
- State minerals are in central plains of Illinois, which is a fertile land rich in minerals with higher elevations and thick forests, and that aided in creating and increasing the agricultural sector due to its fertility.
Conclusion
In summary, the Illinois state symbols play more prominent roles towards the achievement of the set objective by the government in the US. State soil, for instance, has boosted the agricultural sector acting as a source of employment by creating employment for young people.
