Globalization and globalism have come along with a host of influences on the humanity of the world. In this case, people have been able to learn a lot from various activities such as trade, global communication, international education systems and tourism to different parts of the globe. Also included are the brain drain to different parts of the continent as well as international travels and relations to the ways of life and modes of conduct and behaviors existing in other parts of the word. As a result, therefore, there has been a tendency by the global humanity to better understand and appreciate one another in such a way as to bring about harmony and empathy alongside better relations by the world people.
On the other hand, there have been some unbecoming aspects rooting from the globalization, such as the global spread of the multinational companies where some people might get oppressed by being relocated to areas not suitable to them. In the paper, well exhausted are the influences of global citizenship on human identity and how it helps shape one as a useful member of the community, the clear distinction between globalism and globalization, besides how being a global citizen can shape one's personal academic, and professional goals. They are as brought out subsequently.
The concept of global citizenship has shaped my identity in some ways. First, I have been able to be aware of the ways of lives of other people across the world, making me understand them better and avoid cultural criticisms of trivializing them. In this case, the unity of purpose with any humanity has been instilled in me irrespective of their geographical affiliations, cultural subscriptions or even tribal or racial issues (In Oldani, C., & In Wouters, J. 2019). Hence, my identity has been shaped like a person with the ability to respect other people, embrace, and promote the unity of purpose with anybody in the socio-economic, technological, environmental, and political developments for the benefit of all humanity now and into the future. It is also in such a way that global citizenship has made me a better and useful person in the community. I have been able to take in activities which help in promoting environmental awareness and conservation because it is a fundamental component in which all the living things derive their resources across the world. Proper waste disposal helps maintain a cleaner for the benefit of clean living of global people. Also, I take part in interpersonal relation with likeminded people irrespective of their tribal and their geographical affiliations to plant trees which moderate the conditions of the environment alongside attracting rainfall for farming, hence maintaining food security for all.
Globalism can be described as the world which is basically characterized by a host of networks of the connections which span long distances whereas globalization refers to the state where there is a decrease or an increase in the internationally connecting networks across the globe. Being a global citizen in a world of advanced technology can be of great significance to one's personal, academic, as well as the professional goal. For the case of personal goals, one can interact with a diverse environment full of various issues which helps in shaping one's understanding of life across the world (Saul, J. R. 2018). One can then be able to fulfill one's own needs of satisfaction having been able to reach out to their desires which can have spread across the world. For the case of academic goals, one can identify the best institutions across the world which offers maximum quality, and expertise educational opportunities n the areas specialized in. It is followed by a step to attend such institutions and capitalize on every opportunity, hence finally coming out with the best desired academic qualifications of the highest standards. Finally, one's professional goals can be arrived at having been able to take advantage of the globalization where the experts in the same fields can effortlessly interact with one another irrespective of geographical locations, exhaust on critical issues, and finally arrive at a satisfactorily common understanding in their professions.
There has been a disagreement amongst the theorists on the definition of a global citizen because it entails diverse and contrasting issues, according to their perspectives, which amount to one being a global citizen. According to me, global citizenship refers to the state of being a patriotic member of the world abiding by its accepted standards of behavior to the highest level possible. From the diverse outcomes of global citizenship, two of them are the most important. They include social justice and environmental sustainability. Social justice is important because all the people of the world will then be able to live satisfactorily and harmoniously with one another due to equal treatment. Also, environmental sustainability is important because it holds all the components necessary for optimal living by the organisms, such as water, food, air, and habitat (James, H. 2009).
Conclusion
In conclusion, global citizenship, as observed from the above explanations is an important aspect which acts a tower of social, economic, environmental, political, and even educational progressions by humanity. It is thus a fraternity worth being part of.
