Introduction
Health policies are the plans, actions, and decisions that are taken to attain particular healthcare objectives and goals in a society (Abood, 2007). As technology and science keep on advancing, these policies need to be changed to ensure that people's lives are made better. Examples of such changes required include social media security and the coming together of health insurance and healthcare for data analytics. As social media is becoming crucial for health services and consultation processes, there is a need for policy change in its security to avoid the dispersing of wrong information by unauthorized people (Abood, 2007). The purpose of this need for change is to ensure accurate information is disseminated. Concerning data analysis, there is a need for health insurance and healthcare to come together. By doing this, healthcare will be providing health insurance with health profiles which they will use in identifying potential policyholders and reviewing policies (Abood, 2007). The impact with the coming together is, that there will be right and clear analytics of data.
Legislative Process to Bring About Health Policy Change
The legislative process on health policy change is very complex as it involves both public and private sectors with the inclusion of multiple government levels. The process is an ideal that will be used to make changes that will influence the policy that seeks to address healthcare activities and systems (Abood, 2007). The first stage of the process will be concerned with looking for a representative to sponsor the bill to make it viable. After this, it will be moved to the second stage of the committee. Here the policy will be studied and put on a debate calendar. Discussions on the policy amendment as well as its possible solutions take place (Abood, 2007). If the committee passes the policy, it is then forwarded to a different committee for further debate, and voting for its next stage takes place. In case of changes in the Senate, the bill has to be brought back for agreement on the changes to be fixed (Abood, 2007). After this, the bill is brought back to the Senate to be approved to become a policy. Then after this, the last stage is approached where vetting is conducted. Due to some knowledge gap, the legislative process can derail in creating or passing into the procedure. Areas that may lead to this knowledge gap are the need for understanding how interactions of civilians will trigger health (Abood, 2007).
Desired Outcomes in Health Policy Change
As indicated in the policy changes needed, social media security and the coming together of health insurance and healthcare for data analytics are the discussed changes expected in health policy change (Wojteczek, 2018). In the implementation of these policy changes, there are desired outcomes to be attained. By implementing a change in social media security on health information will result in an accurate dispersal of information to both the public and private sectors (Wojteczek, 2018). Such will be attained as only the authorized and qualified people will be in a position to distribute the health information in the health social media sectors. Besides, bringing together health insurance and healthcare for data analytics will lead to expectations of the right and clear data analytics. Such an outcome will be obtained as healthcare will be providing health insurance with health profiles which they will use in identifying potential policyholders and reviewing policies (Wojteczek, 2018).
Role of Special Interest Groups in the Health Policy-Making Process
Interest groups are made up of some people with a common view regarding a particular topic which has to be regulated via public policy and in ramifications, they have to work together to ensure reflection of their opinion in the policy (Golden, 2015). These groups have primary roles in the process of making health policy. The primary function of them is to influence the policy. The members of these groups accomplish this role through lobbying (Golden, 2015). Besides these, groups represent diverse groups where they meet with citizens from various groups in the society to collect information on their input like moms and professional healthcare. Also, the interest groups have a role in acting as the voice of regular citizens. That is, they have to participate in influencing policy (Golden, 2015).
Specific Programs or Efforts of Special Interest Groups and Related Outcomes
Interest groups have to go through some programs in their areas of work. That is, they have programs like management skills, making of policies, implementation of plans, and redesigning of health systems (Golden, 2015). By undertaking these programs, there are expectations of some outcomes. For example, the members will be able to provide management and operational leadership which will result in the promotion of quality health activities. Besides, the members will be able to make health-related policies and carry out plan implementations concerning health. Lastly, they will develop knowledge on how to redesign health systems to be more efficient and effective (Golden, 2015).
Steps Required From Each Role Involved With the Proposed Change
To implement these policies, certain actions have to be followed (Abroms, 2015). The first step will be the identification of the problem of health. Here a clarification on the issue affecting the health population is identified. Information on the matter is collected, summarized, and interpreted. Besides, its characteristics are determined (Abroms, 2015). Then from here, the second step, which is on policy analysis, is approached. Under this step, various policies to address the problems are identified, and qualitative and quantitative methods are used for evaluation. This evaluation will help in determining the most feasible, efficient, and effective policy. After selecting the best policy, the next step, which is policy and strategy development, is approached (Abroms, 2015). Under this step, strategy identification for getting the adopted policy as well as how it will be operating is made. If the right strategy is attained, the policy is moved to the policy enactment step where either external or internal procedures are followed to ensure that the policy is passed or enacted. Lastly, the policy will be implemented (Abroms, 2015). That is the enacted policy will be translated into action, monitored, and full implementations will be ensured.
Propose a Health Policy Change
Propose of these health policy changes is to address solutions to healthcare problems as they are central issues to health. These needed policy changes will be required to solve the challenges the healthcare department is undergoing. For instance, the policy change on social media security will help to the depreciation of violations and the spread of wrong health information to patients. Only those health officials will be able to share health information with their patients. Therefore, there will be the creation of good relationships between the health departments and their patients.
Another proposed policy change is to bring together health insurance and healthcare. These two groups will help in solving the problem of issuing unreliable data to healthcare. The policy will lead to the sharing of ideas between the two parties. Healthcare will be providing issuing health insurance with health profiles; something will enable the right analysis of data concerning health.
Recommendations for Changes to a Health Policy
As problems are hindering health care, it creates a need for making changes to the health policies to ensure data transparency and security to the information given to patients through social media (Sanders, 2016). The process of issuing critical stakeholders and the public with healthcare information on the quality and prices of care is vital in the achievement of improvements in health systems (Sanders, 2016). Compared to other markets, healthcare consumers lack user-friendly and ready access to quality and cost information and thus are not able to make any quality and cost comparison for specific services. Therefore, in regard to technology advancement, there is a need to make improvements on social media security to ensure the proper delivery of health information to the right clients. Still, there is a need to ensure the health sectors such as health insurance and healthcare work together to ensure the provision of reliable data to its consumers (Sanders, 2016).
