The Cloud database management system uses the aspect of a distributed database to share data across multiple physical devices. Where they are may be connected to the same network or lie in a completely different system. They use the Duplication method to share data where the cloud database, which is the master database, duplicates the database. This ensures that each physical device has the same data. (Mehrotra; 2004.)

This increases performance. It can also use a clustering deployment mechanism where changes at one node are efficiently replicated to others.
