France is officially known as the French Republic or Republic Francoise, country of Northwestern Europe. Culturally and historically, France has played a significant role in international affairs where it was involved with other colonies all over the world. Surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Pyrenees, and the Alps, France has provided an economical, geographic and linguistic channel for both southern Europe and Northern Europe. This success has made the country a point of discussion internationally. This essay will focus on its general facts such as the national flag, the neighbours, basic facts, domestic production of its natural environment.

Popularly, the French flag is known as le Bleu, Blanc, and Rouge meaning blue, white and red. The Tri-color flag is known as le drape Trico lore. In 1789, during the French revolution, the royal family, whose identity was a white flag, related with Paris revolutionaries whose rosette were red and white hence the colors of Paris. The French King Louis xvi after acquiring of Bastille on 14th July 1789 in Paris, came and identified the new National guard officially. He was dressed in a blue, white and red rosette. France has many borders than anyone would think. It goes more prominent than the imagination of it as a small European country. Countries that share a physical border with France include Spain, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, Belgium, Andorra, Suriname, and Brazil. Technically, it's hard to prove that Canada borders France, but there is a border, Green Island near St Pierre, that shows so. It is the same story with the Netherlands, and only proves so because the island of Saint Martin is split into half; Half Dutch, Half French. Belgium sits in the North East of France., Luxembourg at the east, Germany, and Switzerland. At South East, there is Italy. Finally, in the south of France, there is find Spain and other small-sized countries. Oversea territories of France are situated in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Caribbean Sea and French Guiana, which borders Suriname and Brazil.

France is well known as the third largest country in Europe after Ukraine and Russia. People who reside in the French Republic are 65,448,977 in number as of January 1 2009. 2,646,573people have homes in France overseas territories and departments. Approximately, 20% of people live in the capital city; Paris, and the metropolitan areas. Traditionally, the population growth rate is lower in France compared to its neighboring countries. This situation has made France allow immigrants into the country to balance the population. France has four climate types prevailing. A maritime climate dominates near the coast at the west, and their winters are mild. Summers are favorable and frequent rainfall around (800mm/32nc). Temperatures are mostly controlled by altitude, therefore, winters become prolonged and extremely cold (Robert& Williams, 91).

France flora and Fauna varies because it ranges from climate and topography. It has beech and oak forest in the North and Center. It also has willow, poplar, pine, and birch. In the south, there are various oaks and pine forests. Around the Mediterranean, there are vines, olive trees, and mulberry. The low scrub identified as Marquis is where French Resistant movement in world war two got its name. The Alps and Pyrenees are habitats for chamois, marmot and brown bear. Wild bears, polecat, marten, and various deers are found in the France forests. The birds are frequently migratory. In the rivers, salmon, pike, perch, lobsters, and crayfish dwell there. Universally, France has influenced the development of science and art mostly in sociology and philosophy hence its recognition.
