Introduction

The Berger's focal points refer to an analysis of a work of art, in this case, films, based on five points of view. The views are the audience, the medium, artwork, the artists and the society. That enables the better understanding of the film, based on the five bases. In this case, there is an analysis of two James bond movies; from two different times (Berger, 2016). First, is the Dr No; which was produced in 1962, with the actor being Sean Connery. He was the main actor; where he was tasked with the responsibility of looking for a fellow agent that was abducted. The audience that is targeted by the film in general, because it is an investigative movie, and could thrill anyone. The medium that was used was mainly television because the other options had not been launched at that time. The artwork was in the form of a film because it supported by the technology state that that time. Regarding the artists, there were various in supporting roles such as Ursula Andress, Joseph Wiseman and Jack Lord. The society that was targeted mainly was American and the United Kingdom.

The other film that can is based on James Bond in Spectre, which is a 2015 film. The main actor is Daniel Craig; playing the role of James Bond. The audience that the film is meant for is diverse and can include anyone because the film is a thriller. The medium that was used is television, as well as other online streaming services; which increase the audience target by the film. Various artists played different roles; where they include Daniel Craig, Christophe Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and many others. The society that is targeted is also diverse; worldwide, but is majorly adults, because of the content. The audience by this movie is quite larger. That is compared to that of the film that came before it because of the advancement in technology. Considering artwork, the film is crime scene investigation; though the role of the fictional character James Bond played by Daniel Craig.

When the two movies are compared, various differences can be noticed. That is although they are the same type, and based on the same character. Their differences can be highlighted based on Berger's Focal Points (Berger, 2012). First, the significant difference is about the way through which the artwork is presented. The quality of the pictures and sound is different between the two movies. In Spectre, there is high-quality resolution. That enables the audience to enjoy the various aspects of the film better. That is because of the advancement in the technology that was used. As compared to Dr No, it has a comparatively lower quality of its artwork. Moreover, the audience is different. At the time when Spectre was produced, the audience was much broader (Thomas, 2009). That is supported by the various options that were available during the release. That includes television and online streaming services.

The other significant difference based on Berger's Focal Points is about the artistes that were used to play various roles in the films. In Dr No, some fewer artistes played significant roles. However, in Specter, there are more artistes; who star in various parts. That is enhanced by the better cash flows that are received by the industry, more than before. That puts them in a position where they can have more actors, owing to the increased audience and budget. Moreover, the impact on society is much broader, because of the larger audience that the film Spectre has. It has a worldwide audience at the moment; hence the ideas and concepts that are highlighted in the movie reflect the values, beliefs and attitudes that reflect a wider variety. Thus, it is evident that there are various differences between the films that were acted in different periods. That has been shown based on the Berger's focal points.
