Introduction
Watching "West Side Story" yesterday for the first time was mind-blowing! The choreography was on another level, and it was what I enjoyed most. The finger snapping gave me a chill of excitement since I was all anticipating on what kind of movie is this and why do they keep snapping their fingers. It reached a point where I started snapping as well. This made me realize the impact west side story had on film musicals, a force to be reckoned. This movie was just overwhelming; comedy, rivalry, drama, dance, tragedy, and love all in one video! There are times we hear that the recent movies are not as good as those that were produced a while back; this movie makes me agree with those that said this. Regardless of the flaws of this movie, it becomes effortlessly solitary of the preeminent musicals ever produced. Commencing by means of the approach and the inaugural sights of New York Urban, around 1960, it practically shrieks "classic" in my eyes
Before watching West side story, I was convinced by those who had watched it that it was a copycat of the romantic movie Romeo and Juliet and that's why I was never eager to watch it, but later after watching, I realized that west side story is like no other movie I have come across. The most distinctive merits is a dynamic enthusiasm that grasps the viewer in the prior arrangements and does not stop up until close to the very conclusion, where, deliberately, the key alters from allegro to largo, as the change prepares the viewers for the wind-up. Setting the acknowledgments at the outcome is a sensible whack to permit the watchers to let go what had been nearly a distressing experience. I think Rita Moreno and George Chakiris are further away from criticism as Anita and Bernardo, and the rest of the clique associates do splendid footwork and performing in place of the Jets/Sharks. I was furthermost awestruck by the performer acting as Ice who imagines blatantly in the finger-snapping Cool numeral. The outfit selection was fascinating, Bright purples combined with pinks thrive in an extra fashionable impression even though it's an old movie.
The American jets and the Puerto Ricans sharks have been depicted as a moral lesson to the warring gangs in the streets today. That was a thoughtful but alarming moral lesson amongst the youngsters of today who want to be the dominant parties of the roads. The rivalry resulted in the death of the most innocent person in the gang who tried to act as the mediator, but his death served as the mediator instead since it unified the two group in mourning him. This was a very creative move even though the killings had taken the movie to an unbearable blood pool. The directors of a west side story, Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, focused this moving and prevailing musical in collaboration with a very musical troupe of performers. My favorite one was Natalie Wood, the protagonist of the movie, with her attractive natural features. Richard Beymer, with the responsibility of bringing out some heartfelt desire to the character of the Romeo-as Tony, but then again I find him too cultured to be plausible as an ex-gang associate and among jets founders. The chemistry he has with Natalie has positioned his heart and soul hooked on his acting. The speech labeling for both parties is prepared competently, although I would have desired a more robust and hoarser vocal sound for Tony.
Love is the sweetest emotion that exists, and I cannot even try to comprehend how it must have affected Maria having his lover killed and his brother as well. Maria attempting to commit suicide would have been the tragic end of the movie, but she did not, that was quite thoughtful. I love the mind of the producer. All this was impeccable and unpredictable. Every story these days has a happy ending, but back then, a happy ending did not matter most as long as there was a good story.
Conclusion
In conclusion, West side story is the exemplary 1960s harmonious mixed with some skilled dance composition and astronomical effort from each person featured in the movie. Leonard Bernstein needs to have been delighted of this movie style of his Broadway melodious. Robert Wise's well-founded resistor in merging the harmony with the "manuscript" is artistry at its premium level. We all want a moral lesson in every movie, we all want something we can encourage others to watch and learn, and this was that perfect lesson to be used in most streets. The casts are mainly youngsters, therefore, stepping up as the ideal age to demonstrate on rivalry, love, and mistakes. The talent in these youngsters explains why this movie has found popularity in most schools and theaters. Westside story is a movie I would repeat repeatedly and still have the same opinion about the cast members and the originality.
