Introduction
Netscape is a brand name that belongs to Netscape communication operation; it was founded in mid 1994 by Jim Clark's collaboration with Marc Andreessen (Bodily & Vakharia 2017). This was due to a software is known as mosaic which was majorly made by Andreessen at the University of Illinois. They developed much interest and went further to improve the software for a web browsing business. After some period, many of the students who performed the mosaic project joined the bandwagon to Netscape where the browser was officially launched in the market.
Success Story
Overwhelmingly the browser became a successful enterprise in the market and for many reasons, it snatched a good share from the market. It had a very good and incredible pace of browsing and for such reason, many preferred to use it time after time and it became bigger than never before. According to Bodily& Vakharia (2017), it remained dominant in the market for the better part of the late 20th century; it was estimated to control over 80+ percent. Around 1998 they announced to the media that the browser would move to an open source process and it would be free. They had better official language standards of DOM, CSS, HTML and ECMAScript (Survey Paper on Website Recommendation System Using Browser History and Domain Knowledge2015) These contributed to such market dominance and many had the love for this browser all over the world. It really performed excellently.
Crippling of the Browser/Business
According to Survey Paper on Website Recommendation System Using Browser History and Domain Knowledg (2015), the luncheon and release of Netscape 6.0 version was the source of all problems that were responsible for the downfall o0f the browser as many people did now not prefer the browser due to its buggy and slower speed. It was now becoming obsolete for many customers and they were no longer willing to use it again as there were alternatives like Mozilla, which had just released in the market during those times. Furthermore, the Mozilla codes were corresponding to Netscape code with respect to CSS/HTML support. Mozilla has dominated the market due to its efficiency and the release of super-efficient speed for the browser. This made Netscape obsolete and it generally controls merely 20% of the market share. With the introduction of the new stand-alone browser (Firebird) and email client (Thunderbird) projects have attempted to trim down the mass that any application suite tends to carry with it ( Survey Paper on Website Recommendation System Using Browser History and Domain Knowledge. 2015).
