It also guarantees a wide range of daily human rights protections related to employment, health, education, housing, and social protection &welfare. The charter lays precise prominence on the safeguarding of susceptible individuals like elderly people, children with disabilities, and foreigners. Finally, this charter is also seen as the “social constitution of Europe” and signifies a critical facet of the continent’s human rights structure (Council of Europe, 2020). The knowledge on the contents articulated by the European Social Charter will help the U.S. firms dealing with European Union’s realize the importance of treating workers with respect and dignity. It will also help to solve the major scourge of discrimination that is often leveled against the Black, and Hispanic race who are the majority in the U.S. There have several cases where dismissal letters have been handed to African American workers in favor of the whites who are to take up those positions, and this should not be tolerated.
The European Social Charter is a key device in enhancing the advocacy efforts to eradicate poverty and social exclusion contributed by massive unemployment from the majority of the U.S. firms. Knowing this charter will help U.S. companies to provide better health insurance, social protection in terms of pregnancy leaves, better working conditions, and finally to ensure that Black female workers are not sexually molested and threatened by the bosses, while at work. In a nutshell, the European Union Social Charter is a tool that can increase the path of achieving complete social justice in the European continent and beyond (Caritas Europa, 2020).
