Introduction
Traditional news organizations are basically the institutions that have been established in order to convey certain messages. Traditional news organizations are usually characterized by biasness. On the other hand, new media refers to organizations established with the purpose of relying the information with more accuracy because the data is conducted in thorough research and proper analysis before being handed over to people (Bednarek, & Caple, 2017). Competition usually exists between traditional institutions and the new media. Fame is basically the main cause of competition between the two institutions. The urge of fame by traditional news organizations has triggered them to always rush in reporting the news to the public as quickly as possible due to the increasing competition that they face from new media news outlets. The biasness of traditional organizations' news is normally caused by the improper way of analyzing data before its presentation. I am, therefore, in agreement that rushes in passing information for the sake of fame by traditional organizations have led to a water down of professional responsibility for checking sources and facts of the story.
As a news organization, I do prefer passing information accurately as possible rather than quickly as possible. The passing of accurate information will eliminate biasness, which misleads the public. Biasness is normally caused by poor collection and analysis of information. Thereafter, it would eventually mislead the public due to the existence of errors. Also, providing accurate data to the public will encourage trust between the public and the news organizations. Also, the conveying of accurate information to the public enables people to find the truth concerning matters affecting them.
Retraction is an effective way of coping with mistakes whenever it occurs. When work has been published, there might be an occurrence of errors when publishing the work or errors could be made unintentional before work is published. Retraction will significantly help in rectifying those errors and avoid misleading of the public (Klinger, & Svensson, 2015). The news organization should learn to retract information to correct the mistakes made earlier before being viewed by the public. Such organizations should, however, avoid taking advantage of the retraction to the point of tampering with the correct information in the essence of correcting wrong ones.
Conclusion
In conclusion, news organizations are advised to properly analyze their information rather than rushing to present it to the people. Engaging in thorough research will promote the presentation of accurate information, especially to the public. These will not only enhance the good relationships between them and the public, but also it would create trust. Also, news organizations should present accurate information rather than as quickly as possible. News organizations will, therefore, have adequate time to analyzing and eliminate errors collected during the research (Ismail, 2014). As a result, this information will rarely mislead the public hence guiding them to a better way of handling certain problems.
