Introduction
Resurrection constitutes a conviction that God raised Christ from the deceased following his suffering and crucifying. The concept of transformation acts as a guarantee that during the second coming of Christ, the believers will resurrect from the dead and live in eternity with their maker. The narrative of resurrection of Christ exhibits differences and similarities as accounted in Matthew 28: 1-10; Mark 16: 1-8; Luke 24: 1-10; and John 20: 1-18 accounts of the reappearance of Christ. This paper gives a detailed comparison of the four accounts and their representation of the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead. The discussion disambiguates the similarities and differences based on the unfolding of events in the four accounts.
Similarities In The Four Accounts
The significant notable similarity evident in the four accounts of the resurrection in the synoptic gospels lies on the day of the week when the people set out to pay homage to the tomb of Jesus Christ. In these four books, namely Matthew, mark, Luke, and John, they mention that the visit happened on the initial date of the week. Mathew 28, "towards the dawn of the first day of the week" similarly in other books, the phrase appears referring to the first day of the week.
The four accounts also recognize the presence of Mary Magdalene. The narratives of resurrection represent her as the woman who had gone to anoint the body of Christ and a person who got very disturbed y the appearance of the empty tom. The woman thought that the enemies had stolen the body of Christ. Every account notes mary Magdalene as the person who visited the tom on the first day and one who broke the news of Jesus missing in the tom to other disciples of Christ. The other similarities evident in the story of resurrection entails the unprepared disciples to the concept of reincarnation. All the account attests to an angel speaking to the disciples notifying them that Christ had risen, the women fleeing from the tom, the rolling away of the stone that had locked entry to the tomb of Jesus, and several women leaving tom in the morning. These women comprised of Mary mother of James and Mary Magdalene.
Differences In The Four Accounts Of The Resurrection
The first notable difference appears on the vents that occurred on the day the people visited. The narrative in the ook oof Mathew notes the occurrence of a violent earthquake and angel speaking to the women, the book of mark notes that the women brought spices and angels talked to them but the women fled the tomb with speaking back. The book of Luke records that the women brought spices, angels spoke to them, and the women later informed the followers what they had witnessed while the book of John records Mary Magdalene running to get Simon Peter, and Jesus then appears to Mary.
The second difference appears in accounting, who visited the mausoleum. The account in Mathew notes that Mary Magdalene and additional women visited the tomb, the book of Mark notes Mary Magdalene, Salome, and Mary mother of James. Luke notes that women visited the tomb without necessarily mentioning their names while the book of John only notes Mary Magdalene.
The other notable difference in the accounts of resurrection appears on the appearance of the angels. The book of Matthew notes that one angel came down from heaven who wore white clothes and looked like lightning while the account in mark describes the angel as a youthful male clothed in pallid robes seated in the right region. The report in Luke notes that two gentlemen dressed in garments gleaming positioned adjacent to them while the account in John notes two white angels seated at Jesus's body's initial position.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the four accounts of the resurrection of Jesus Christ prove that there exists an agreement on the main events surrounding the concept of transformation. The idea of rebirth, therefore, represents an occurrence with argumentative bases, and no contradiction on the fundamental truths of resurrection appears. These concepts represent a similar occurrence with different records.
