Illicit drugs are a problem of the highest urgency, not only on the amount of money spent, legal proceedings but also concerning the police workforce. According to ( Possi,2018) The use of illicit drugs is associated with a series of economic costs for families, individuals, communities, or even societies. The usage of these drugs mainly results in negative impacts on healthcare, antisocial behaviors, crimes, and also on loss of productivity and earnings. Drug trafficking poses the most significant threats in labor productivity, leading to economic costs due to participation in drug abuse treatment, premature death of the workers, and also labor participation costs. The usage of illicit drugs mainly affecting the youths finds it hard to engage actively in a globalized economy. It, therefore, ends up involving themselves in drug trafficking activities, which pull down the growth of the economy. However, ending the usage of these illicit drugs isn't an easy task; practice, some measures can help reduce its usage. According to (Palladino, Hone, & Filippidis, 2018), This measures can be educating the mass on the dangers of this drugs, integrating initiatives and policies against drug trafficking into development programs and also establishing of organizations such as National Institute on Drug Abuse(NIDA) that help fight usage of illicit drugs and promote growth of many businesses(Palladino et al., 2018).

In conclusion, the usage of illicit drugs is a significant cause of the breakdown of many businesses today, leading to losses. Therefore, much interest in fighting usage of these drugs and promote the growth of business and economy as well.
