Introduction
An associate since college days, Teddy Branson was a rare friend whose traits have uniquely impacted my life. His level of conviction and perseverance to the ideals that he holds greatly stood firm in ensuring that he achieved his dreams. He also believed in togetherness even if the rest stand to benefit from his effort. We named him the pioneer of the, "we," slogan instead, of an "I," attitude. His primary aims revolved turning various endings intro new beginnings even if certain risks were involved. My memories around him revolve three anecdotes; Leadership at the Basketball Pitch, Failure in the Second Last Law Exam, and Campus Politics. These three anecdotes will seek to shed light on the person Teddy Branson in a humorous way coupled with certain qualities that makes him stand amongst the most memorable persons in my life.
Leadership at the Basketball Pitch
Admission at the Harvard Law School for me followed the presence of inspirational figures who had achieved greater highs of success. Such people included Ann Coulter, Cory Booker, Ben Stein, Bobby Jones, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama to mention but a few. I was also attracted by the mission of the Harvard Law School which entailed educating persons to acquire the ability and skills which can lead to the advancement of justice as well as the well-being of the society as a whole. Those were the things I kept talking about since high school whenever I was questioned on why I had much interest in Harvard University. Little did I know that the school had much to offer, their choice of Teddy Branson to be part of the student's fraternity during my time of studies is something that I will always remain grateful for. We first met in one of the lecture halls during our second week of studies at the university. We immediately clicked and became the best of friends, Malik and Kim joined our group, but that would not separate our bond. We both had a great interest in basketball because it was a game we played in high school. I was a general basketball player, but Branson knew the game so well that he could use all the skills in a single game. He was later made the pitch leader with the instructions of teaching the different rest skills; such as efficacy in dribbling, making shootings, the finishing, and the footwork, how individual defense are made, rebounding techniques, passing, and initiating the live ball moves.
Before he was made the team leader, little was known about his humorous part of life. His first objective was to make the game likable. He, therefore, brought the idea of the halftime sketch which entailed organizing a few members of the team in performing a mock game between 4 to 5 minutes. The game had a fake referee, and people would make many mistakes while also entertaining the other students. He was able to pull the entire school to the mock game and later take them through the basketball magic where great skills would be showcased. The training was coupled with interesting moments such that everyone would dream of going to the pitch immediately after classes. As a close friend, I did my best to become part of his comic style of training, an issue which made me be part of the school basketball team and still engage into the game to date. Even though he is a great lawyer today and rarely plays the game, I joined professional basketball because of his inspiration.
Failure in the Second Last Law Exam
The failure came at a time when everyone needed to finish school and prepare for the Bar exam which would be offered a year later. Many people lost hope, but Teddy with his humorous view of life developed the slogan of, "massive failure is no failure." He moved the entire institution with the slogan that everyone adopted it, and we would wake up every morning chanting it. It first it seemed like comic relief from an exam fever that has led to dismal performance, but people later saw the sense when the discussion shifted as to why many people had failed. The discussion later gained momentum with the University taking the blame for failing to prepare the students for the exam hence the results. The day when the discussion gained the momentum, it was all laughter for the brilliant brain who developed a comic chant only to be later taken seriously to the extent that some staff risked losing their jobs. The massive failure that sent panic to many law students turned to a debate that would bring different university challenges to the discussion table with Teddy Branson leading brigade that championed for a recap exam. It was decided that another exam would be provided and the one we failed nullified. Indeed, Branson was a man of magic; his moves were miraculous and unmatched. He saw the long-term benefits of his actions while many people fell for his sense of humor and comics. It was only to the very end that people would see the objective that every action anchored.
Campus Politics
Campus politics has been one of the greatest and most crazy moments in the different universities across the globe. Ours was special since Teddy Branson became my assistant the moment I expressed interest in joining the Presidential Campus race. Our campaigns were immensely interesting; Teddy would campaign to the point to a point where people would believe that he was the actual presidential candidate only to shower me with praise while ushering me to the podium. Even though I was less likable, people held me in high spirit because of the manner they saw Teddy address me while also using certain comic styles and relief in ensuring that we win the race. We won with a landslide and history remained etched in Harvard University with my name being printed as one of the student presidents that garnered the highest votes since the institution was started. I rarely converse with Teddy nowadays because of my demanding careers (both law and professional basketball), but I have named him after my firstborn son. He is Branson Junior; in him, my friend lives and always stay closed.
Conclusion
In summary, the person based essay has been given in a series of three stories that makes my choice of person more memorable. Those who do not know him may think that Teddy is an ordinary guy next door, but those who have been part of his life opine him as a magical creature or rather a man of mystery. He is not shaken by circumstances but is patient enough to identify opportunities in every problem.
