During the prime time, television shows usually have the highest number of viewers; this is the time between 8: 00 - 11: 00 pm Eastern Time. The shows which happen this time usually draw the highest number of viewership. Because of the high number of viewers, advertisers see this as a goldmine, and they often take the opportunity to place their adverts during this time. In this case, I watched NBC Sunday Night Football, and different adverts were shown during the program. The high number of viewership has been attributed to the new shows which are introduced at this time. The high viewership number has also been attributed to the number of favorite shows that are aired during this time. Studies have also shown that most television viewers during the prime time, pay more attention to the adverts which are presented during the shows that they watch. According to a survey conducted by GFK Media, most viewers had a positive attitude towards the ads which were shown during the prime time as compared to the attitude that the viewers had on the shows that were presented during the other time. The main reason for this was that many people believed that the adverts which were shown during the prime-time represented quality products and they were committed towards quality products.
During the 60 minutes of watching prime time television, about 15 minutes were dedicated to advertisements for different organizations. As this was a sporting event, most of the adverts that were shown during the event were related to sporting. For instance, the advertisement which was for a minute was the Sony PlayStation's advertisement. It represented different games that gaming enthusiasts could play. There was also an advertisement for Procter and Gamble detergent which was themed with the sporting event. The one-minute advertisements were about 6, while the 45-second-long advertisements were about 8, the30-second advertisements were about 10, and the 15-second advertisement was about 10. All the advertisement events were aligned with the theme of the show that was being aired. The commercials and the program have a similar target market.
It can be seen that prime time provides a contemporary way of signifying that the number of individuals watching television is high and it is usually as a potential way of receiving high returns on the performance of a particular product which is being promoted by a particular company. Depending on the type of the show, advertisers usually try to find ways of targeting their adverts to the different audiences of the shows. For instance, shows which are used for musical purposes, advertisers who deal with musical products such as music instruments use this as the best opportunity to advertise their products. In an instance in cases where there is a football or sporting event on television, advertisers who deal with sports and sporting equipment use the time to advertise their products.
The shows which air during this time presents the most significant opportunity for advertisers to advertise their products. The adverts which are used at this time also represent the holistic view of advertising, the way individual companies position their adverts and the way that they take opportunities to expand their products. The advertisers understand the type of viewers who watch the prime time shows, because of this, they tailor their advertisements in such a way that they can be able to communicate the business message to their audiences.
