The idea of the principle of separation of powers aimed at establishing self-governance; however, administrative agencies in these branches of government have grown to be tyrannies (Gustavson, 2013). Americans today are suffering not because of leadership at the top of government but from federal agencies allowed to exercise powers on behalf of the president. The mixing of powers has allowed for the creation of administrative agencies that are now controlling American foods, water, products, and all American daily life. Allowing consolidation of government to be under different agents of government is the beginning of tyrannical governance that eventually will deny citizens their rights and liberty. The rules and regulations set up by bureaucracies imply that these individuals in power get to be in control. Under this governance, everything is controlled, and there is no room for people to act at their own will. Technical competence plays a role in the bureaucratic government because all offices and departments have to be filled with competent individuals. Workers in the private sector are paid less compared to their counterparts in the public sector, an indicator that the governing elite continues to create gaps with the rest of US citizens (Becker, Boeckh, Hainz, & Woessmann, 2016). The bureaucrats are now controlling the political elite who are voted in by citizens. Federal bureaucrats, for instance, are the ones who are boldly taking powers in different economic sectors.

Continued bureaucratization of the private life of American citizens is there to reduce the liberty and economic growth of citizens. Democratic governance is denying the government to have full control of economic activities, therefore granting a chance for bureaucrats to exact power over all sectors. The government has allowed the rich to be key players in contributing funds, making it easy for them to manipulate government. Governments create a bureaucracy to accomplish particular goals after authorization from the legislature. The United States has agencies that do not have clear roles and responsibilities; hence, large expenses without clear reasons. Cases of the tyranny of bureaucracies are witnessed in cabinet departments (Andriyus, 2017). United states have fifteen cabinet departments who are directly responsible to the president. However, other secretaries and assistant secretaries form unnecessary network since they are required to report to the president. Independent executive agencies and regulatory agencies are examples of bureaucracies.

Independent agencies report to the president but are independent because they are not supposed to follow the rules of a particular department. These agencies are part of the bureaucratic government because they are tasked with providing the government with valuable information. Example of significant agencies is the central intelligence agency (CIA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The creation of an independent regulatory agency was created to control industrialization. These agencies have pushed the idea of bureaucratic government because they make significant decisions affecting the daily life of Americans. Examples of these regulatory agencies are the Federal Communications Commission and Security Exchange Commission (SEC) tasked with regulating stock trading.

Government corporations are examples of bureaucracies since its establishment is aimed at administering government businesses. The US Postal Service is a famous government corporation. Bureaucratic government has allowed a few individuals to take over the administration of programs and policies. Bureaucrats are critical players in modern society, that is why they have been given a chance to be in charge of managerial and government functioning positions. The powers vested in bureaucrats are the reason why public policies and regulations are overshadowed, prompting a red flag on their doings. These bureaucratic procedures deny citizens a chance to get government services efficiently because they have to follow endless networks.

The Morality of Bureaucracy

The tyranny of bureaucracy is the opposite of democracy. The government, in this case, could be having powers in theory, but in practice, they have one's governance because the bureaucrats are the ones in charge. Bureaucracy offers a chance for the development of won budgets, making it difficult for elected leaders to be in control of public funds. The strict rules and procedures that are part of bureaucracy could be a contributor to the poor function of governments. Citizens might opt for, in this case, way to approach their problem in a bid to avoid paper works and approvals that dictate the functioning of the bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is another reason for economic stagnation whereby the government officials allow the elite to practice socialism. The unelected bureaucrats are responsible for rules and regulations set up, which controls the daily life of most Americans. These rules and regulations go to the extent of controlling elected representatives, making it difficult for the voices of ordinary citizens to be heard. Bureaucracy is, therefore, the only way most governments exert control and authority over people without people realizing that power-hungry individuals rule them.

Long-chain of management requires time, making it difficult for immediate actions when decisions and results are needed for a prompt time. Government-run by bureaucrats hinder operations by officials because they are required to follow hierarchy before getting approvals. Specialized jobs in government are repeated, therefore creating boredom and negative productivity. Agents and government officials find themselves redundant because they have to do the same thing repeatedly. Some government officials might prefer absenteeism. Strict rules and regulations set up by bureaucracy deny freedom to citizens who prefer to work under a free working environment. A bureaucratic government denies competition because employment is not based on merits. Promotions of civil servants in this form of government are politicized, therefore denying qualified individuals a chance to advance in their careers.

The continuous growth of federal debt shows how bureaucracy is not suitable for governance. The bureaucratization of government has made it impossible to determine the amount of debt and spending by the central government. Bureaucracy means that there is not the authorization of public or private enterprise without approval from the head of government. The outcome of such a scenario is that the public does not get a chance to understand the spending of financial resources.

A Revised Approach to Governance

The only way to eliminate and replace the tyranny of bureaucracy is to reinvent democratic institutions to deliver effective governance (Farazmand, 2019). Effective democracy is the single most efficient approach to replace bureaucracy governance. Voters need to be empowered to allow them have a sense of responsibility through moral choices something that bureaucratic structures have denied. Bureaucratic structures require replacement and not amendment.
