J. K Rowling was one of the most famous writers of the contemporary era who suffered a mental illness, which was as a result of depression. She got the writing idea from the Harry Potters series when she was on a train which delayed to go to London from Manchester in the year 1990. After the seven years, she experienced the sudden occurrence of the death of her first child, the death of her mother, and she also experienced divorce from her first husband. Lastly, she operated under extreme poverty. This happened until that time she completed her novel which was the first one in the series "philosopher's stone and Harry Potter" in the year 1997 (Rowling 2015)

J. K Rowling life story was from rags to riches despite the hard life journey she experienced. Rowling managed to progress within five years period to a multi-millionaire status from being living on state benefit. Until her success, she suffered depression for so many years. Her feverish writing began in 1993 when she got divorced from her husband. Again she continued with the script even after getting a teaching job (Rowling 2015).

She came to rest when her life reached a point where there was a total mess, and she became clinically depressed definitely. The worst that happened to her was that her books were now turned down by every Britain publisher. After a while, she eventually turned her life around after gaining some hope (Rowling 2015). Therefore, even though Rowling suffered a mental illness that caused her life, she remains one of the most authors who are successful till date by writing inspiring books.

How I Propose Helping Rowling

In the case of Rowling, I could recommend helping her by providing her with through counseling. The fact is that what caused depression in her life are little things that can be forgotten and continue with life. Thus, advice could be best for her, and by giving her some examples of people who experienced the same situation she was in and moved on with their lives.

Therapies That Could Benefit Her Situation

There are no therapies that could benefit her but instead use other strategies to help her focus on what she was doing and forget what had happened in her life. This is because it is generally for death to occur and divorce to happen between two couples even after the wedding.

Conclusion

To conclude, mental illness should be well taken care of because it always hinders the success of an individual and sometimes can cause brain damage. Life is also never easy because it has many different challenges that take a healthy heart to continue with life. Psychologists are therefore called upon to help to counsel people who might be experiencing mental illness so that they can reach their goals in life (Corrigan & Bin 2005)
