Introduction

Human beings are biologically born with a natural problem-solving capacity. Besides this, people come into the world with a natural liking for human activities. In the light of this assertion, people do not choose to be active; they are born to be so. For this purpose, human beings enjoy physical activity for its own sake and other reasons. It is a fact that exercise and games play a crucial role in life. To restate the obvious, through vigorous activities as plays, humans improve metabolism in their body. In addition to sports, other forms of activities and movement such as dance or work are also significant to kinesiology. However, abstractions, doses, and preoccupation with utility happen to be affecting this significance. Henceforth, turning exercises into doses and abstractions is dangerous.

Abstraction deals solely with concepts that are being thought of rather than practical ones. This is one thing that holistic kinesiology approach to sports and human activities frowns upon. Holistic approach banks on the idea of thinking which recognizes the importance of the body, mind, and spirit and their collective influence in success (Twietmeyer, 2010). Put differently; the idea is someone cannot get 'this one' without 'the other.' If abstraction is the case then people are far less likely to know the whole truth of any matter if things are immaterial and out of context apart from their natural relationship with one another. It would be argued that this is very dangerous. For instance, regarding human activity to be physical is not enough as other activities are equally part of the movement. Such narrow reasoning would stunt opportunities that can be important to the understanding of an issue that can be corrected through kinesiology.

On a similar note, doses in sports and games give kinesiology a more scientific or slightly medical stance. Critics believe that in understanding human movement and its importance, one dimension cannot do so adequately. It is dangerous to take a single approach to a problem as the root cause might not be a physical one. The reasoning here is that there is equally a more humanistic approach that can be of help in learning about kinesiology. Hawkins (2011) asserts that kinesiologists need to embrace a multidimensional of human movement that incorporates both science and humanities. Despite the success of scientific approach in kinesiology, there is evidence of humanistic success as well. Holistic kinesiologists are trained psychologists who employ some tools that have successfully relieved stress. What happens is that muscles can be worked on to reduce chronic illnesses, depression, anxiety, and neurological problems. The notion is to understand the cause of a problem firstly. With decontextualization, it will become difficult to understand human movement. However, the assertion here is not that humanities should now take over kinesiology.

Conclusion

To sum up, movement both have cultural and personal significance. As a result, it is not probable to substitute it with preoccupations of utility. A human being is not fixed or static but alive. It is through a motion that humans maintain what they are. No account of non-self-directed locomotion will make sense than the one that is passion and desire driven. As a result, holistic kinesiology should be given much focus considering how it understands human locomotion from a broader perspective. In the end, the dangers of doses and abstractions are eliminated.
