Similarities of the Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:1-7

First and foremost, the two scripture both talk of the Christ Jesus as the prophesied Messiah. In Matthew script, it can be learned that through the appearance of the angel to Joseph in the dream that Jesus was to be born out of the Holy Spirit. Therefore it was then the mandate of Joseph to take responsibility for raising the savior of the world as God had planned for it. The angel affirms the prophecy by saying that it is through his lineage that the Messiah was to be born. Therefore Jesus had to grow in the house of David St. Luke clearly shows that for the prophecy to fulfill, each and every person had to leave to his or her mother town for census exercise (Version, 2009). At the incidence, Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem, the town that was prophesied he would be born. All happened to fulfill and affirm the good news that had been foretold by the ancient prophets.

In the two ministries try to show how Christ would be rejected at first sight. For instance, Joseph plans to quietly leave Mary the virgin was a clear indication that Joseph was not ready to take in the shame in the glory of the newborn. However, through the angel of the Lord, he was able to accept God's will. Similarly, on St. Luke's scripture, teach that during the registrations of the people in their city, Mary, mother of Jesus, was rejected in all inn, and therefore, she had to give birth in a manger. The two parts, therefore, show that Jesus would be rejected in his motherland and his very people.

Differences between Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:1-7

Regarding the two scriptures, one is the preparation of the other, and thus, they fall under different timelines. For instance, in Matthew 1:18-25 portray an understanding of why Joseph was planning to leave the Virgin Mary quietly (Version, 2009). Joseph knew the repercussion that was awaiting Mary upon bearing a child out of wedlock. For that reason, Joseph had planned to leave quietly and avoid the shame that was to follow him and that of his love. Despite the plan, the angel of the Lord brought the good news to joseph to terminate the plan and adopt God's will. Similarly, Christians are called upon to let the will of God to fulfill them.

On the other hand, St. Luke expresses how Jesus Christ was born in a humble environment that portrays that he had come to rescues all and no specific group of people. Secondly, it also confirmed that Jesus' kingdom was not worldly, and hence he was up to eternal life after death. In one way or another, Matthew scripture was to prepare joseph psychologically about his adopted son. At the same time, the Luke scripture provided the chronic of Jesus' birth in the registration period, thus showing humility.

In Matthew 1:18-25, the angel of the Lord revealed to Joseph that Jesus was the son of God, and his purposes were to save the world from evil. In Luke 2:1-7, the scriptures show the beginning of Jesus' ministry in the world at the age of thirty years. The St. Luke shows the actual fulfillment of prophecies other than prophecies themselves.
