The remarkable changes that come along with the industrialization era led to technology innovation that is yet to be explored to its extreme. Given a chance to manipulate time to the past or future, I will choose the future, more so to 2070, five-decade from today. I would not like to travel back to what has already been experienced, but I will love to visit Dubai 50 years from today and see what the future holds. Dubai is located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Gulf region. Dubai 50 years back was a fishing center, but with the discovery of oil in the area, the city began to grow. In 50 years, the city has managed to have world tallest building, the world largest mall, a highway that connects to all Emirates, an airline, growth in health, and education institutions, largest driverless metro, stock exchange center, richest horse race, internet towns, among others. 50 years from today, more changes will be made.
Many world cities have technologically advanced at an alarming rate capturing attention to what they would become by 2070. Dubai has a lot-unexplored space yet to been integrated into future planning, therefore, giving the city room for growth. The reason I would love to travel to Dubai 50 years from today is to experience the city's technological advancements across different areas such as transport, luxury, entertainment, and architecture. The city accommodates modern technology; a good example is the 2030 vision to have Robocops in streets for security. Drone technology has also gained momentum as less weighing items are shipped to clients. Latterly, the city has adopted an autonomous transport system from the railway, self-driven cars, autonomous police cars, and the autonomous air taxis.
By 50, the city visions to have space ships hovering around the city. The city has a space station, and plans are underway to land in mass and build a viable leaving city on the planet. When you think you have seen it all, the city of Dubai keeps surprising with innovative technology, not only in paper but also in reality. Another interest in the city is the cultural changes the city will have introduced. Dubai is in a more reserved state in terms of religion and traditions. The city growth, however, brought cultural integration as it hosts people from all parts of the world irrespective of culture. By 2070, I would be intrigued to experience cultural integration and changes that would be because of the city growth and advancement in the region.
In 50 years, the city of Dubai has grown from a fishing center to a world-class city. In 2009-2009, the city economy hit rock bottom, but the city managed to rise again and continued to grow beyond its neighboring cities. Past 50 years have drawn attention to Dubai with the tremendous changes registered each day. In the next 50 years, I would be curious to live in the moment and experience the changes brought along by technology, and cultural changes in the city of Dubai.
