Introduction
Since effective communication stands out to be one of the key pillars of organization success in easing processes and creating maximum efficiency, I still stand firm, concerning my suggestion of implementing online profiles in LinkedIn. Even though, this online platform may have some corns like allowing other organizations to access employee's qualification which in turn may lead to offering them employment offers leading to unnecessary inconvenience, I believe the creation of online profiles in LinkedIn will bring more good than bad to the organization. Besides, some of the major disadvantages of the above subject can be mitigated or eliminated without difficulty.
LinkedIn will enable employees to meet their peers, and in doing so, various employees of a different organization will have an opportunity to endorse each other's skills. These will enable the acquisition and incorporation of new skills into the organization. These will, in the long run, improve organizational processes. Moreover, LinkedIn will permit the creation of essentials business connections. Employees will get an opportunity to link up with other employees across the globe for relevant assistance. For instance, an employee can connect with past co-workers who had a vast experience in his or her field of specialization. These, in turn, will impact positively on the organization since a lot of time that could have been used for consulting will be saved for other productive purposes. Furthermore, the creation of employee profile on LinkedIn will enable employees to meet the vast majority of online groups which will assist them to network with each other for the betterment of their respective organizations.
Notably, the concept of other organization offering employment offers to other employees can be managed by signing contractual agreements by employees and encouraging them to honour the contract, creating enabling working environment and lastly fair remuneration and promotions. With the above, I believe the creation of an online profile in LinkedIn will be more of importance to the organization.
Difference
Indeed, there exists a difference between sending an email to my supervisor and speaking with her in person. Communication through email represents a form of written communication unlike in-person communication commonly referred to as face to face communication. Unlike communication through email, in-person communication is more appealing since it involves the incorporation of both verbal and nonverbal forms of communication that work together to make information and messages more appealing to the communication parties. In person, communication will permit me to shape my interaction with my supervisor since I will be able to use various signs and different persuading facial expression during the interaction. This may convince my supervisor to accept my suggestion of creation online profile for employees in LinkedIn.
Essentially, the major difference between email communication and in-person communication is that in person, communication proves to be more effective more than email communication. In person, communication offers immediate clarification and instant feedback from the recipient of the messages which is unlike in email that may take a little more time. Moreover, the level of communication with my supervisor using in-person communication offers a high level of performs and numerous feedback reviews and instant clarifications which is not in the case of email. For instance, any negative comment that which my supervisor might deliver on my email as a reply may tend to be stinging and demotivate my suggestion of creating an online platform. This makes email vulnerable to misinterpretation, unlike in-person communication since it may be difficult for me to create a persuasive tone for my supervisor on an email. Hence, with the aforesaid differences, in-person communication is more effective than the email platform since it incorporates various concepts like appeals, feedback and performance evaluations besides optimizing time
Persuasive Medium
Undeniably, in-person communication is more persuasive than the email platform. The modern globe is so competitive with various organizations adopting the more recent communication technologies to avoid being faced out in the market. Many organization uses email as their greatest platform of communication. However, the email platforms have missed the component of in-person interaction. In person, communication offers something different which is more than just interaction. It offers more non-verbal cues like different facial expressions that can be able to convince the recipient at the spot, unlike email where one has to wait until that time feedback is channelled back.
Categorically, in-person communication is more persuasive than email communication due to the following reasons. First, in person communication offers more appeal during the communication process. It is an undeniable fact that speaking to somebody face to face can make it much easier to persuade and appeal to them as compared to email communication. I can use in-person communication to motivate my supervisor by highlighting for her the benefits associated with creating an online platform in LinkedIn. Second, in-person communication can make each parties communicating to guess what the other party is thinking. Even though it is possible to perceive what one party is thinking based on his or her language on the email, there is no effective way to guess what an individual is thinking that having an in-person communication with them. Lastly, in-person communication is capable of building a strong bond between the communicating parties. We can call it friendship, partnership or camaraderie or simple an effective working relationship. For instance, for me to develop a good communication bond with my supervisor, I have to engage with her in an in-person relationship unlike other platforms like email.
