“The Simpsons”

“The Simpsons” is composed of animated characters known as the Simpsons Family, conceived by Matt Groening. The characters are Homer Simpson, the father of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Homer is married to Marge Simpson, and they have a dog and a cat. Grampa Simpson and Marge’s sisters, Patty and Selma, also debut in the show, set in Springfield town in the United States.
Homer Simpson is the protagonist in the show, The Simpsons. He is a father to three children and husband to Marge. Homer operates as a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, and he stereotypes the working class. The show paints him as obese, lazy, an alcoholic, a junk food addict, and a television enthusiast (Dellner, 2019). Marge is the wife to homer and a great figure to the family (MacFarlane, 1999). She is a staunch critic of vile television programs and has gone to great extremes to protect her family from the corrupt content.
The Simpsons is a nuclear family but has an element of modified, extended family (MacFarlane, 1999). Homer and Marge Simpsons are a married couple with three children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Marge has twin sisters who visit from time to time and help watch over the kids. Abraham Simpson is Homer's father, and although he is in a home for the elderly, the Simpsons visit him regularly and invite him over for dinner (Dellner, 2019).
In the Simpsons, Homer works at a power plant, while his wife is a housewife. The man works to provide for his family and pay their bills. On the other hand, Marge is a loyal housewife charged with giving birth and rearing their children (Dellner, 2019). However, as the plot unfolds in the future, Marge earns herself a job at Homer's workplace.

“American Dad”

“American Dad” sitcom was created by Seth McFarlane, Matt Weitzman, and Mike Barker. The cast comprises Stan Smith, a CIA agent and the head of the family, Roger, an alien, and Francine Smith, the wife (Dellner, 2019). Steve Smith and Hayley Smith are their children, and a talking pet fish called Klause is also the main character. The family lives in the fictitious town of Langley Falls, Virginia. The show mainly revolves around Roger, the Alien.
Roger is sensitive and a pushover that is quickly taken advantage of at the beginning of the show. However, with time, he has become callous, unfeeling, devious, and a drug addict. He adopts disguises to leave the house, hence the many different personalities. Roger is androgynous, making it hard for anyone to tell his sexuality correctly (Dellner, 2019). Stan Smith is a caring husband and father (MacFarlane, 1999). He worships popularity as depicted in the episode "Pilot" as he encourages Steve, his son, to date Cheerleaders. Stan’s intelligence is also questionable at times as he is indirectly called a dumbass by one of Steve’s teachers in one of the episodes.
Lastly, American Dad is a nuclear family, with Stan and Francine as a wedded couple and their children Steve and Hayley. The show never alludes to other family members except for close friends like Quagmire.
Consequently, Stan Smith from American Dad works as a CIA agent while his wife Francine is a stay at home mom (Stan Smith; American Dad, n.d.). Francine likes doing house chores and even admits that she would hate to be a breadwinner.

“Family Guy”

“Family Guy” is an animated series created by Seth McFarlane and aired on Fox (MacFarlane, 1999). The family consists of Peter and Lois, parents to Chris, Meg, and Stewie, and a talking dog, Brian, their pet. The series is set in Quahog, a fictitious city in Rhode Island.
The family guy is a nuclear family consisting of a married couple, Peter and Lois, and their children, Chris, Meg, and Stewie. The show also alludes to the couple had other children, that is not part of the cast.
Peter Griffin stereotypes the blue-collar workers and frequently drinks with his friends at a local tavern, "The Drunken Clam." He is obese and overwhelmingly stupid as he discovers in an episode in season 4 after taking an I.Q test. The character is also painted as impulsive as he makes rash decisions before thinking them through (Dellner, 2019). The man is also an unloving father to his daughter Meg, who he disregards as his child. Lois Griffin is stereotyped as a housewife and a television mother (MacFarlane, 1999). She is often the voice of reason for her husband’s stupidity. Lois is unfaithful to her husband and admits to having several affairs, one of which led to Meg’s conception (Erickson Hal, 2013).
