Introduction
Artificial intelligence includes the use of robots and technology to perform activities, just like humans. The activities performed by the AI include facial recognition, google search, and driving of cars. The massive use of this technology raises questions on the effects the technology has on humans and their operations.
Issues Related to Artificial Intelligence
Regulation
Artificial intelligence is a modern technology that is not included in existing laws. AI-related products and services that are unregulated may pose threats to the consumers (Tegmark, 2016). Through its institutions, society should actively participate in the creation of policies that support innovation and protect consumers.
Military Activities
AI gets adapted to military operations to perform duties that are risky for humans. Such weapons may help reduce fatalities during conflicts and be dangerous when they get accessed by the wrong hands.
Privacy
AI includes the use of technology to access people’s information. The technology can get adapted in the criminal industry to track criminals and deter crime (Nadimpalli, 2017). The use of technology to identify sex-orientation according to facial components and physical appearance may lead to exposure of private information to the public leading to social problems such as depression.
Cybersecurity
AI technology may protect individuals and against the vulnerabilities that occur through internet operations. The technology may, however, get hacked to develop sophisticated ways of cyber robbery. The governments and companies may get exposed to enemies through technology.
Mistakes of AI
The application of the technology in the operation of cars and planes present a risk to the security of the people due to technical errors and mistakes experienced in machines and robots (Allen & Chan, 2017).
Superintelligence
There exist arguments that robots improve themselves by becoming better. The improvement of the machines beyond humans may benefit from solving problems beyond human intelligence. Questions on the control of machines over humans when they are cleverer also emerge through superintelligence (Osoba & Welser, 2017). Some of these threats include job replacement of humans by machines to improve efficiency.
