Madonna is considered to be a great rock /pop musician but rarely does one hear about her today. In most cases, many people, at some point, forget great stars. Madonna was a great musician of her time. She rocketed to stardom very quickly in early 1984 which surprised most of the musicians of that time. She was the first female pop artist to have ever achieved such fame in the last century. However, Madonna did not start her artist career as a musician. Her career began when she left her native home in Michigan for New York in 1977 to become a dancer (Jones, 1991). Madonna learned dancing with people like Alvin Ailey but had no dream of becoming a pop musician. She became one of the dancers in a disco called Patrick Hernandez Revenue in 1979 before going to France .She met her boyfriend Dan Gilroy in Paris before traveling back to New York. An Expression as to why the Music of Madonna has a Significant Meaning

The best pop music sang by Madonna, "Papa Don't Preach" is very interesting piece which is meant for young girls advising their parents that they should not get angry about their departure to their new home (Jones, 1991). The song advises parents who do not like their daughters to start doing their own things without their guidance. In the song, Madonna tells the father that she was a young girl sometime back but she has come of age. The highlighted song sounds to be an anti-abortion message to young girls urging them not to involve in abortion but to stay with the pregnancy until the birth of the child (Greenlaw, L2007).The song seemed to reveal Madonna's position about abortion at the time and the experiences young girls underwent at the hands of their boyfriends in this era.

The song encourages young girls to be courageous and strong enough to keep their promises so that they cannot kill the unborn. It also teaches about teenage pregnancy issues especially where parents, and specifically fathers, engage in confrontations with their daughters after discovering that they are pregnant. The song encourages fathers to ensure that their daughters who have become pregnant to avoid procuring abortion because they have become of age to take care of the child after birth. Madonna explains in the song, the young girls may have gone against the teachings of their father but they should be forgiven because they have become mature to take care of their children. The artist used different styles such as metaphors and rhyming words to make the song interesting. The author also used personification and emphasis to stress the message. Such message is powerful to any teenage girl facing the dilemma of having an unwanted pregnancy and experiences some emotional hostility from the parents. Overall, the song educates people on an important social issue affecting society as a whole.
