Tucker has analyzed how technology has infiltrated the lives of the people today. Most people, especially teenagers, have become the most affected as they have engrossed themselves in the technology of the internet and smartphones. He is wondering whether these people engrossed will manage to live without them if the machines/ technology one day died, which feels sad. Despite technology, especially smartphones and robots, making our lives easier, people can easily communicate; it had its detrimental effects. The connection people used to make without the technology is no longer present today. People want their privacy today in their phones; people have avoided the face to face meetings, and more enjoyable, mothers are interested in robots with emotions that would have the capability of expressing their feelings.

My real baby can express its feelings; it can smile, blink, suck its thumb, and say when it wants to play or rest when it is overactive. All these are emotions, children, and people who can easily connect with them. The robots can pretend to have empathy and shut down as well. Despite mothers wanting to have the Robots at their homes, which can relate emotionally to them, the children might have the ability to differentiate a real baby from a robot toy baby, unlike the elderly, the grandmothers. Children fear that their grandmothers do connect too much emotionally to the robots, and they might forget their real families. They will become too dependent on the robots if only allowed to speak very emotionally, connecting on a deeper level. Some people are quite open to robots, especially children, as they feel people sometimes are disappointing. Parents still feel they prefer the robots for the simple reason being they care about taking care of the child rather than doing other things a real babysitter would also do, or forget to do.

Sherry Tucker's My Real Baby is alive and with emotions that confuse the nannies and babysitters at school at first, but later on, they get used to having the robot around. My Real Baby feels cared for when the nannies and babysitters are concerned for her. Callie takes both AIBO and My Real Baby home where AIBO gets sick, she does not treat AIBO as broken but rather as sick needing veterinary attention. She is only afraid of both AIBO, and My Real Baby will forget her when she returns them. People are getting so much attached to robots. Both Tucker and Callie see AIBO's feelings as real. In Mrs. Grant's class, people present their opinions about having robots at home taking care of their grandparents.

Tucker's studies on children aged between 5 to 14 years have shown how the children feel about the robots. Children interested in robots have proved to be lacking enough attention from their families. When it comes to the elderly, in Japan, it looks like the robots could double for family members. The elderly, especially those with conditions like dementia, could be forgetting their families and easily getting attached to the Robots. Tucker talks of his principle idea of caring for the robots so that, in return, we are being bothered by them. We are vulnerable, and the robots have become powerful besides their harmless amusement, people have invested their emotions in them. People get offended when robots and avatars are offended. Opinions about the robots, My Real Baby, AIBO, and avatar vary from people to people and their ways of life.
