The speaker's music business is such an essential part of her life. She works for the castle theatre and sometimes the shows. Other times, she is a taunt buyer, such as when there is a show, there are booking agents that talk to the taunt buyers to promote the artists. Apart from working for the Castle theatre, she also writes music and is specific about a particular music festival that she applies to perform every year. Her experience with bands has been fantastic as she discusses how they play and the need for an assistant group.
As the individual making the booking, she explains that a band needs to choose their assistants from a list given to them. They scrutinize the bands according to the number of followers they have on their social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and check for websites and ask for the capacity in terms of the tickets they can sell for the show. For more prominent festivals, bookings are made in advance, and the bands have to make sure that they make enough from the platform.
When she started her music career, she was given the option of being a writer. From her experience, she started from nothing; hence had a lot of questions to ask. She had to let her ego go and ask questions so that she could get help. If she got paid to do a cover with a band, she did exactly that because she got paid for it. The experience of a booking agent is quite different from that of a taunt buyer, and she says that she books mostly Americana's because she finds them incredible to move a crowd. The reason for buying bands is because she likes them even though there is no money she gets. As a booking agent, she gets 10% while at other times, it is 15%.
The management compiles the places that the bands want to play, and the booking agents do the job of booking them to a particular event. They gather all the information, the venue, the emails, all the contacts and the agent does all the other work. When an agent has such a relationship with a performing band, they can book many other events that will earn them more money. There is the benefit of being known by large companies because people wanting to book will find the agent legit.
She also explains the disadvantages of being a booking agent because of the number of calls that one needs to make yet get no response from the intended people. Bands have to know that they will even play for free in shows or make the least until luck falls on them, and they get paid well. They have to endure the process of being paid only a few coins because there is nothing they can do about it.
Conclusion
The speaker talks about her future endeavours that she is excited to perform. Initially, she has been into charitable events alongside her music business, where they managed to raise considerable amounts to cater to the needy. She is excited about hosting a children event where children will showcase their talents to sing, play instruments, among other things. During the first day, the kids will get to know each other and then be put into the various bands.
