The most striking aspect of every human is the ability to smile and in most cases smiles are reassuring and a sign of a good relationship. Smiling is encouraged in every single career with the primary emphasis being the ability to connect with other people. It takes a single smile to tell the nature of an individual and the direction that the conversation should take in both personal and professional interactions. This observation while working as a nursing assistant and an emergency medical technician created a desire to become a dentist in line with my previous professional competencies and education as a nurse and laboratory technician. With my professional and education background it was crystal clear to me that it would be a good professional direction where I would be directly involved in helping people to improve their ability to smile and connect with those that are close to them.
Being a certified nurse assistant will play an instrumental role towards dentistry profession by being able to show concern for others and also having a high level of flexibility. Nursing profession pushes nurses to be concerned of patient needs and as a dentist this will be an instrumental aspect of humane and personalized services by understanding the patient pain and dental needs. Dental problems such as tooth decay and accidental injury to the gums can be extremely painful and discomforting and being a nurse I have perfected the skill of handling patients in pain with empathy and reassurance. Dental service is considered as an art due to the different needs of patients and my nursing background will be instrumental in listening to the clients concerns which is key in designing the interventions in response to the patient needs.
As a laboratory technician I possess important skills that can be directly applied in dentistry especially my eye and hand coordination and attention to detail which is a significant requirement when operating a dental laboratory. In the future, my skills as a medical laboratory technician will come in handy especially in handling dental related test samples and instruments. Technology play significant role in healthcare today and as a medical technologist I hold significant potential in embracing new dental care technology which is instrumental in improving the patient safety and the overall healthcare outcomes.
Everybody has that one thing that they desire to accomplish and achieve their self-actualization. My desire has always been to give people a healthy life and a beautiful smile along with it. It launched my pursuit for a lifetime career in dentistry. I am have a background in nursing and medical laboratory and wish to expand my knowledge in dentistry to enable me to offer patients a reason to smile. Besides, I am a researcher who is able to collect primary data from health institutions and the government organizations. This skill will be instrumental in facilitating my dentistry study. I am certain that undertaking this novel task in your organization will help me to grow professionally and in the future I will uphold the reputation of the school through safe and evidence based dentistry services. Given a chance, I will bring great honor to the university by conducting myself professionally, upholding the values set by the university and assisting in research and development within the institution.
