Science is an integral discipline that attempts to explain different phenomena that exist on earth. According to Okasha 2016, science has a critical function in explaining what happens and how things happen in the universe. Other times, people tend to seek explanations about practical issues they see around them. Okasha mentions that science has a role, for instance, to explain to the people whey rubber does not conduct electricity and attributes this role to physics. Additionally, he mentions biology, which is also science, plays a role in explaining why turtles have such lengthy lives. As a result, these sciences do not seem to compete with one another as each branch has its area of study (Okasha 51).

Nonetheless, people tend to believe that the various scientific branches are not equal, while some maintain that some are more substantial than others (Okasha 51). The majority of people think that physics is the most significant branch of all. It is believed that all the objects that different sciences target to study have physical components. It, however, may seem real because even in biology, which studies living organisms, there is the physics element (Okasha 51). For instance, the cells that make up the living organisms are made of water, sugars, nucleic acids, and proteins, among other features. All these aspects have molecules connected. When broken down, units consist of atoms that have physical characteristics (Okasha 51). In essence, the things that are studied by biologists are of sophisticated physical properties. Other sciences are similarly affected by physics as they tend to revolve around the objects and other aspects that have physical characteristics.

Other sciences such as psychology, which involves the study of human behaviors also revolve around the same issue of having physical properties. For the reasons mentioned earlier in the paragraphs, physics seems to be a fundamental science applied in almost all sciences that exist on Earth. It looks as if physics as a science did not exist; then many phenomena would not be answered to satisfaction by other sciences.

However, physics may not provide concrete details about different objects that require a scientific explanation. Thus, each of the branches of science is instrumental in the field that it studies. Physics can only be considered as a complement to other sciences to provide more detailed explanations. It would be impossible to reduce all other sciences into physics as they are not entirely physical. It would be a bad idea to do this as different sciences explain different objects from different positions. Biology explains about life where physics cannot do that but only complement biology to give finer details about life.

Conclusion

Therefore, for the reasons provided in the paper, it would be appropriate to mention that all the branches of science are integral and assist in the provision of explanations of diverse phenomena. These branches are not in competition with one another as each study's specific aspects and can only complement each other for concrete answers. Sciences should not be combined into one unified science. They should remain as they are to make the scientists' work of explanation easier as with each specializing in a smaller branch tend to be a more comfortable area of study hence providing accurate descriptions about various regions they study. Ideally, in my opinion, I would be against the idea of combining sciences into one large area of study. The specific branches should remain the way they are, each studying a particular area to enhance the provision of detailed yet accurate explanations about the existing phenomena in the universe. The idea of letting the branches independent can be built on the fact that sciences do not compete.
