Introduction

Project management has become one of the most important aspects of the organization in today’s organizational environment. Business organizations engage in various projects due to the needs identified from the customers, the organization itself, and the external environment. The project can be defined as any series of activities in the organization that has a definite start and end, to achieve a particular objective (Pinto, 2013). There are various types of projects that can be implemented in the organization. On the other hand, project management can be defined as applying the skills and knowledge to the various activities of the project to meet the needs of stakeholders (Pinto, 2013). Therefore, the major concern of this particular paper will look at how the Interprofessional competencies can be incorporated into the project management plan outline.

Project Scenario

PROVISION Healthcare Technologies is involved in the manufacturing of the patient image wands. However, the government has imposed new regulations that are aimed at achieving patient safety, and this brings to the need for PROVISION to make various changes to the existing new system within six months. Failure to implementing this new system would face various consequences from the government in the form of fines and therefore decided to meet the government deadline. This brings to the need to establish a project management team composed of members from various departments within the organization. Below is the outline of how the Product Development department will interact to ensure that it achieves its operational and project responsibilities, which will fall under the four major interprofessional competencies.

Project Management Plan

In the implementation of the new system, a plan of action would be taken, where the team members will collectively work together to achieve the results. Therefore, teamwork would ensure that every concept is taken into consideration to ensure everything is in place. As a manager, therefore, I would first before giving out the project management plan, present various key competencies that would be required for the team members when carrying out the project.

Values and Ethics

The project activity will involve working with other individuals so as to achieve the objectives. In the teamwork, everyone will be required to have mutual respect and shared values towards each other. This will involve individuals to practice various ethics and values. The first one would be to have in the project activities. This will involve designing the software system that will ensure PROVISION achieves the regulations that were set by the government to ensure patient safety. The modifications of the software should reflect the guidelines that are required by the government. The software team has also consisted of team members who originate from diverse cultures. The core step of project management would be to accept such cultures and work together as a team so as to achieve the set goals and objectives. Individuals are encouraged to communicate about their progress effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities

The team members should make sure that they are able to apply the knowledge with the aim of making the project successful. The contribution of every team member in this particular project would be of greater importance so as to achieve patient safety. In this category, it implies that every team member would be required to take in the roles and responsibilities they would be given in the project (Project Management Institute, 2000). The various tasks of the project software will be broken down, where each member would be required to stick to the roles that they would be assigned. Dividing the roles among the team members will be according to expertise skills.

Communication

Among the team members, communication is a very important aspect that needs to be considered. Every team member will be required to exhibit good communication skills to enhance coordination among the team members. Also, the team members would be required to establish a communication channel that would help to foster their interaction while working on their projects. At the same time, the member of the project team should have active listening skills and be in a position to encourage others while expressing their own opinions (Project Management Institute, 2000). In this way, success will be enhanced and achieving of the group objectives. Also, the team members will be required to be in a position to give timely and instructive feedback and having a respectful response towards the members of a team. This will encourage coerciveness among the team members hence accomplishing the given task at hand.

Teams and Teamwork

The project will be done under teams, which implies that individuals should have a good relationship with the team members and be in a position to follow the principles that will be set within the group (Project Management Institute, 2000). Teams will work together to ensure that within the short time that the government has stipulated, they all achieve the desired results intended to be accomplished. The time framework given to update the information system is very short, and this requires immediate action to be taken.

In a team, individuals should be in a position to engage everyone in tackling the common problems that are facing them towards the establishment of various software materials. Also, one should be in a position to avoid any disagreements by engaging others positively about various roles, goals, and actions (Pinto, 2013). They should focus on the means of interactions that will minimize the levels of disagreements between the group members.

Project Management Plan

Technology Design

This is the first section of the project management plan, which will involve the project team establishing how the new database would look like. The project team would ensure that the design will be in a position to ensure the safety of the patients, by keeping into consideration all the features that would be required to comply with the new set regulations.

Technology Make

This is the second section, as defined from the project management plan. In this particular scenario, the necessary requirements of the technology the new system will use need to be assembled (Project Management Institute, 2000). This will require that the team members have coordination work together to make sure that everything is in accordance.

Tests Modifications to the Software

After assembling everything that is needed for the new system, the team members need to test the modifications that have been made. This is a critical section because testing the software will determine if they have achieved the results (Pinto, 2013). In this particular consideration, when the objectives would be made, the project team will continue to the implementation stage where the software will finally be used.

In conclusion, project management is an essential activity in every organization. A project is any activity that is carried out within an organization to achieve certain objectives. In this regard, it can therefore be postulated that a project team and plan should be established to accomplish the tasks. The accomplishment of a particular project requires that the company or an organization have a project team and a project management plan to accomplish the project, to meet the stakeholder needs and requirements. There are various vital competencies that a project team needs to exhibit, which include ethics, communication, teamwork, and lastly, responsibilities. These are very important because they will assist in the completion of the project activities and achieve the set objectives of the stakeholders.
